Description:

This application claims the benefit under 35 USC ยง119(a)-(d) of German Application No. 20 2014 104 923.1 filed Oct. 16, 2014, the entirety of which is incorporated herein by reference.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a wall element for a drawer side and a drawer side having such a wall element, and a drawer having a corresponding drawer side and to a piece of furniture having such a drawer.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The prior art already discloses various embodiments of in particular hollow-chamber drawer sides for drawers.

Hollow-chamber drawer sides have the advantage that drawer slide systems can be accommodated therein, with the result that for example overall height can be saved, and can be maximized for a drawer in a case with an undermount slide.

Such hollow-chamber drawer sides can be realized with different surfaces, in particular, through the choice of color of a bent sheet-metal part that forms the outer contour of the hollow-chamber drawer side.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention is based on the object of expanding the possible designs of a drawer side, in particular a hollow-chamber drawer side.

First of all, the invention proceeds from a wall element for a drawer side of a drawer, having a drawer side body which a base part which has a cavity for receiving a drawer slide system and a casing element for encasing the base part. The essence of the invention is now that the wall element forms at least the upper part of the drawer side with an upper end face and opposing vertical wall sections, and that the wall element is designed to be plugged onto the drawer side body from above and to be fixed to the drawer side body.

The wall element preferably covers at least a part of the casing element. Optionally, it is configured such that it at least partially covers the casing element in the side region, too.

The wall element is preferably configured for a drawer side body which is capable of providing the supporting forces for the drawer system, that is to say already forms on its own a statically load-bearing system for a drawer slide system. The wall element is snap-fastened on the drawer side body and/or clamped thereto and therefore preferably defines the visual appearance of the drawer side in important regions.

Furthermore, it is preferred for a wiping lip for abutment against a top side of a drawer bottom to be provided. In this way, a good attachment to the rest of the drawer can be achieved with the wall element. As seen internally from above, the wall element thus defines the entire outer side of the drawer side from the drawer bottom to the upper end face.

In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, in the state attached to the casing element of the drawer side, the wall element forms a cavity, extending along the length of the drawer side, above the casing element.

This produces great flexibility in specifying the height of the drawer side, which is freely adaptable over the entire height of the cavity of the wall element via a drawer side body. The base part with the casing element does not obstruct at any point. Preferably, the wall element extends along the entire length of the drawer side.

In order to be able to realize various design impressions with little complexity on the drawer side, it is additionally proposed that the wall element has a recess for insertion of a decorative surface. The decorative surface can extend for example over the entire surface on the outer side from the recess to the end face and along the full length of the wall element. In a furthermore preferred embodiment of the invention, the wall element covers a part of the casing element of the drawer side in the mounted state. Optionally, the wall element is configured to butt in a flush manner against a horizontal section of the drawer side body, in particular of the casing element in the mounted state.

In another configuration of the invention, it is furthermore advantageous for the wall element to form the outer contour of the drawer side, which is visible to a user internally from above and externally from above in a state mounted on a finished drawer.

Preferably, the outer contour is completely formed by the wall element on a finished drawer when viewed externally from above or internally from above, i.e. the wall element completely covers the drawer side body apart from a lower opening for a drawer slide system and end openings for attaching the front wall and rear wall.

It is furthermore advantageous for the wall element to extend along more than half the length of the drawer side. In this way, the drawer side can be formed predominantly by the wall element.

It is additionally advantageous for the wall element to have marked fastening points for attaching to the drawer side body. For example, the wall element is mounted, for example clipped, on vertically extending mounting posts at the marked fastening points, in particular by being moved from above.

In an additionally favorable embodiment of the invention, the wall element is an angled sheet-metal part. Such a part can be produced cost-effectively and in particular with different decorations, in particular colors.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIG. 1 shows a detail of a drawer 1 having a drawer front 2, a rear wall 3, a drawer bottom 4 and a drawer side body 5. The drawer side body 5 is illustrated in section in FIG. 2.

The drawer side body 5 comprises a casing element 6 and a base part 7. The casing element 6 covers the base part 7 on a right-hand outer side 8, a horizontal connecting section 9 and an inner side 10 as far as a wiping lip 11. Provided on the base part 7 are attachment devices 12 for fixing a drawer slide system. Furthermore, the base part 7 comprises, on a support 7a, fastening claws 13 for a drawer bottom 4 arranged on the support 7a (see also FIGS. 7a and 7b). The casing element has for example a height of 46 mm, whereas the height of the base part 7 on the outer side is one or two millimeters less.

In principle, the drawer side body 5, as a complete hollow-chamber drawer side, could be used as a drawer wall in a drawer according to FIG. 1.

In the present case, the horizontal connecting section 9 has apertures 14, 15.

The apertures 14, 15 are passed through preferably by post-like mounting means which are connected to the base part 7 and project beyond the horizontal connecting section 9 of the casing element 6. Such connecting means 16 are partially illustrated for example in FIG. 7b. Preferably, it is not only the base part 7 that is fastened to the connecting means 16, but also the casing element 6, in particular in the region of the horizontal connecting section 9.

This produces a rigid, comparatively stable arrangement of the base part 7, the casing element 6 and the connecting means 16.

The connecting means 16 serve for example to hold a hollow wall element 17 (see in particular FIGS. 3 to 5). For example, the wall element 17 has fastening points for attaching to the connecting means 16.

The then complete hollow-chamber drawer side 18 consisting of the drawer side body 5 and wall element 17 is depicted in FIG. 5.

Both the casing element 6 and the wall element 17 are preferably manufactured from sheet metal as bent sheet-metal parts.

The wall element 17 comprises an outer wall 17a, an inner wall 17b and a horizontal section 17c.

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 to 5, the wall element 17 is fitted in a flush manner on the horizontal connecting section 9 of the casing element 6. In this way, the outer side of the hollow-chamber drawer side 18 is defined by the wall element 17 and the casing element 6.

The wall element 17 is preferably only plugged onto the drawer side body 5 at the connecting means 16.

In this way, it is possible to easily equip a drawer side body 5 with different wall elements 17 which have different designs, for example different colors.

A drawer side 18 constructed in such a way thus has great flexibility with regard to individual customer wishes concerning the design of a drawer.

A drawer 19 equipped with the hollow-chamber drawer side 18 is depicted in FIG. 6. The hollow-chamber drawer side 18 and a part of the drawer front 2 and a part of the rear wall 3 can be seen.

At a rear end 20, the outer side 8 of the casing element 6 is longer than the wall element 17 or the rest of the drawer side body 5 by a wall thickness d of the rear wall 3, such that the outer side 8 covers a narrow side 21 of the rear wall 3 at the rear end 20 as seen from the outside.

In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 5, the casing element 6 bears on the base part 7, in particular also the horizontal connecting section 9, so as to follow the contour of the base part. This produces a compact, rigid structure.

The base part 7 advantageously extends along the greatest part of a length 1 of the casing element 6, at least along more than 50% of this length, such that the base part 7 represents an independent holding structure for a drawer slide system.

The wall element 17 can be configured in different manners.

In the configuration according to FIGS. 3 to 6 and 7a and 7b, the wall element 17 ends at the horizontal connecting section 9 such that the casing element 6 provides the wiping lip 11 for a drawer bottom 4 (see in particular FIGS. 7a and 7b).

The casing element 6 is passed through in the vertical direction by the connecting means 16. The connecting means 16 can serve not only to hold the wall element 17 but also for attaching the drawer front 2 and the rear wall 3.

FIGS. 8a-8d illustrate perspective views of portions of four different configurations of wall elements.

FIG. 8a shows the wall element 17 corresponding to FIGS. 3 to 6 and 7a and 7b.

FIG. 8b depicts a wall element 22 which comprises an extended inner side 22b with a wiping lip 11. In this embodiment, the wall element 22, which is in particular able to be plugged on in a comparable manner to the wall element 17, thus defines the complete inner side of a drawer from a horizontal section 22c to a drawer bottom 4. An outer side 22a corresponds to the outer side 17a of the wall element 17.

The embodiment according to FIG. 8c differs from that according to FIG. 8b in that now an outer side 23a of the wall element 23 also completely covers both the remaining horizontal connecting section 9 and the outer side 8 of the casing element 6 in the plugged-on state. This means that the wall element 23 provides both the inner side and the outer side of a drawer side. This results in even greater possibilities of quickly and easily designing a hollow-chamber drawer side differently, as a whole and individually, for example as per customer wishes.

FIG. 8d shows a wall element 24 with a solid configuration, for example made of glass, wood, material components or concrete, which is attachable to the connecting means 16 between receptacles (not illustrated).

This, too, results in great design freedom for using wall elements 24 with a solid configuration or at least the same geometric dimensions.
