CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/149,368 filed on Feb. 3, 2009, the disclosure of which is incorporated by reference.

FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

The present disclosure generally relates to devices for playing with and/or imparting training to animals, and, more particularly, to a protective glove for covering a hand, a wrist and a forearm portion of a user while playing with or handling an animal.

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

Devices including various animal training devices, such as a leash, a clicker, a head halter, a flat collar, a slip collar, a martingale collar, a shock collar, and the like, is used for playing with and/ or training animals, such as a dog and the like, to reliably performing certain actions in response to certain commands. The commands may include commands such as “sit,” “down,” “come,” “stay,” “fetch,” and the like. It is to be observed that process employed for playing with/ training an animal may be a continuing and lengthy process depending on the type of the animal the type of the device being used; and the skill and understanding of a trainer, an animal owner and a caretaker.

Use of conventional devices including various animal training devices aims to develop a stronger relationship between an animal, and a trainer, an animal owner or a caretaker. Additionally, the use of the conventional devices aims to provide entertainment and pleasure to animals, and their trainers, owners or caretakers; and to engage an animal's mind to alleviate problems caused by the animal's boredom. Such problems may relate to attempts to destruct a cage where the animal may be housed.

Further, animals are expressive and may communicate their needs by biting, whining, and getting restless. Sometimes, animals find pleasure in aggressively chasing and grasping their trainers', owners' or caretakers' hands while playing with the trainers, the owners or the caretakers. Accordingly, the pleasure enjoyed by both the animals, and the trainers, the owners or the caretakers may quickly be lost in the event when the animals accidentally bite or scratch the trainers, the owners or the caretakers.

Furthermore, the body member 100 may further include a forearm cover portion 106, which may be adapted to extend from the wrist cover portion 104. The forearm cover portion 106 may be adapted to cover the forearm portion of the user.

In the present embodiment of the present disclosure, the body member 100 may be composed of a leather material. Specifically, the leather material may be a heavy-duty leather material. Alternatively, the body member 100 may be composed of various other cut-resistant, bite-resistant, and scratch-resistant materials, such as an aramid fiber, a nitrile rubber and the like, which may be strong, durable, and flexible.

Moreover, the body member 100 may be manufactured in a manner, such that the protective glove 1000 may be worn to protect hands, wrists, and forearm portions of users having different hand and arm sizes. Alternatively, the body member 100 may be customized and adapted to accommodate a hand, a wrist and a forearm portion of a specific user.

Further, the protective glove 1000 may include a plurality of patches carried by at least one preselected area of the body member 100. The term “at least one preselected area” relates to one or more areas of the body member 100 that may be predisposed to be targeted by an animal. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the at least one preselected area may include the tip portions, such as the tip portion 120, the tip portion 122, the tip portion 124 and the tip portion 126 of the first finger sheath 110, the second finger sheath 112, the third finger sheath 114 and the fourth finger sheath 116, respectively. Further, the at least one preselected area may also include a part 130 (as shown in FIG. 3) of the base cover portion 108 that adjoins the fourth finger sheath 116 and the fifth finger sheath 118. Furthermore, the at least one preselected area may also include the wrist cover portion 104 and the forearm cover portion 106.

The plurality of patches may include a plurality of finger patches 202. The finger patches 202 may be carried by the tip portion 120, the tip portion 122, the tip portion 124 and the tip portion 126. Further, the plurality of patches may include a plurality of arm patches 204. The arm patches 204 may be carried by the part 130 of the base cover portion 108, and by the wrist cover portion 104 and the forearm cover portion 106.

Although, in the present embodiment of the present disclosure, the plurality of patches may be carried by the at least one preselected area as described above, the present disclosure is not limited to the any particular preselected area as shown and described. However, it should be evident that the plurality of patches may be carried by any other preselected area, as per a manufacturer's preference. Further, the plurality of patches may be carried by the body member 100 in order to cover the body member 100 in its entirety. Specifically, the plurality of patches may be carried by each of the hand cover portion 102, the wrist cover portion 104 and the forearm cover portion 106 of the body member 100. More specifically, the finger patches 202 may be adapted to be carried by the plurality of finger sheaths while completely covering the digits of the hand of the user. Further, the arm patches 204 may be adapted to be carried by the base cover portion 108 of the hand cover portion 102, the wrist cover portion 104 and the forearm cover portion 106.

The plurality of patches may be stitched onto the at least one preselected area of the body member 100. Alternatively, the plurality of patches may be carried by the at least one preselected area of the body member 100 by any other means and mechanisms, such as adhesives, and the like. Further, each of the plurality of patches may be composed of a rawhide material. The rawhide material may be quite effective, when used for training animals, such as dogs, cats and the like, as the use of the rawhide material may also satisfy a natural desire of an animal for meat. Accordingly, the use of the rawhide material may increase the animal's inclination to play with the user.

The protective glove 1000 may further include a pocket 300 carried by at least one patch of the plurality of patches, such as the arm patches 204, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. The pocket 300 may optionally include a flap 302 for openably closing the pocket 300. Further, the flap 302 may openably close the pocket 300 by means of various fastening means and mechanisms, such as a snap fastener, a hook and loop fastener and the like. The pocket 300 may be carried by the at least one patch of the plurality of patches by means of stitching, gluing and the like. The pocket 300 may be adapted to accommodate at least one article therein. A suitable example of the at least one article to be retained within the pocket 300 may be a food item, such as an animal's treat. Alternatively, the at least one article may be any other article, such as a medicine, a toy and the like.

Referring to FIG. 4, a bottom perspective view of another embodiment of the protective glove 1000 is shown. Specifically, the protective glove 1000 may include the pocket 300 carried by the body member 100. As described above, the pocket 300 may be carried by the body member 100 by means such as stitching, gluing and the like.

The protective glove 1000 of the present disclosure may be manufactured as either a right hand glove or a left hand glove as per a user's requirement. Further, the protective glove 1000 may be configured in various dimensions, colors and materials, as per a manufacturer's preference.

In use, as shown in FIG. 5, before starting playing with an animal, such as a dog 2000, a user may need to wear the protective glove 1000 on an arm portion 3000 to cover a hand, a wrist, and a forearm portion of the user. Further, as the user may start aggressively playing with the dog 2000, the dog 2000 may attack the forearm portion and the wrist of the user. As the forearm cover portion 106 and the wrist cover portion 104 of the body member 100 may be covered with the arm patches 204, the dog's teeth, such as a tooth 1100, may be incapable of reaching the skin surface of forearm portion and the wrist of the user in case the dog 2000 starts to bite, scratch or cut the forearm cover portion 106 and the wrist cover portion 104. Further, as the arm patches 204 may be composed of the rawhide material, the dog 2000 may start chewing the arm patches 204 and may be incapable of penetrating teeth thereof into the arm portion 3000 of the user. Accordingly, the hand, the wrist and the forearm portion of the user may remain protected against any scratches, cuts and bites.

Various embodiments of the present disclosure offer the following advantages. The protective glove, such as the protective glove 1000, as described herein, may be capable of increasing safety of a user, such as an animal owner, a trainer and a caretaker, by providing protection against scratches, cuts and bites caused by an animal.

Further, the protective glove of the present disclosure may be adapted to increase the animal's inclination to play with the user, as the use of the rawhide material may satisfy the animal's desire for meat. Furthermore, the protective glove may also be adapted to be used while bathing the animal or administrating medicine to the animal. Moreover, the use of the protective glove may facilitate the user to aggressively play with the animal without receiving any scratches, cuts and bites on a hand, a wrist, and a forearm portion of the user.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present disclosure have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the present disclosure to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the present disclosure and its practical application, and to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the present disclosure and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is understood that various omissions and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstances may suggest or render expedient, but such omissions and substitutions are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the claims of the present disclosure.
