Title:
Flag pole buddy
Kind Code:
A1

Abstract:
A Flag Pole Buddy for helping the elderly and handicap from making a unnecessary trip to the mailbox. When mailperson deliveries mail and opens the mailbox door this pulls the Flag pole Buddy support from under the Flag pole buddy causing it to stand up straight telling that mail has arrived. You get your mail and lay heavier bottom end back on the Flag pole buddy support. You can see the Flag pole buddy from your window in many homes. The bottom cap of the Flag pole buddy comes off which allows a 2 AA cell mini maglite flash light to be installed. At night this flash light eliminates the Flag pole buddy and light shines out of holes drilled in the top cap. This will help rescue and law enforcement find your home at night. The flag pole buddy bolts on opposite side of mailbox of outgoing mail flag.

Claims:
What I claim as my invention is Flag pole buddy:

1. I claim that when mailbox door is open to deliver mail by mail delivery person. This pulls out flag pole holder from under flag pole signaling mail has arrived without any Extra effort from mail delivery person. Wherein being a major improvement thereof of other signals that require Extra effort. I claim that the flatbar that bolts the flag pole support to the mail box door can be factory bent to configure to any standard front side end of mail box. Wherein the flag pole can adjust on its bolt to conform to the flag pole support.

Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

There are many times that a trip to the mail box is difficult to the elderly and handicap and dangerous in traffic. A lot of the time they check the mailbox only to find that the mailperson has not arrived. The Flag pole buddy eliminates that from happening. The Flag pole buddy lays on its side resting on the Flag pole buddy support that bolts to the mailbox door. When the mailbox door is opened the Flag pole buddy falls standing straight up showing mail has arrived. In a emergency to help someone find your home at night bottom cap of the Flag pole buddy comes off and allows a AA cell mini maglite flashlight to be installed. This eliminates the Flag pole buddy and lights shine out of top cap holes.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring now to FIG. 3 this shows the Flag pole buddy 1 from a top view. The Flag pole buddy 1 is in set position laying on the Flag pole buddy support 5. The Flag pole buddy support 5 is made of (½ inch) PVC pipe. It has a (½ inch) PVC right end cap 6 and a left end PVC cap 7 as seen in FIG. 7. Two (¼ inch) holes 13 and 14 as seen in FIG. 8 are drilled in the Flag pole buddy support 5. The Flag pole buddy support 5 will then bolt to the mail box door as seen in FIG. 3. Two holes will be drilled in mail box door. Acorn nuts 15 and 16 are used inside mail box door to protect hands from cuts from bolt threads as seen in FIG. 3. All bolts nuts washers are (¼ inch). The length of the Flag pole buddy support 5 On a standard mail box is (6 inches). The Flag pole buddy 1 is made of (1 inch) PVC pipe thin wall. A (1 inch) PVC top cap 2 and a (1 inch) PVC bottom cap 3 as seen in FIG. 5 will be used. The (1 inch) PVC pipe is (13 inches) long on a standard mail box. A (¼ inch) hole 12 as seen in FIG. 5 will be drilled in center of pipe (7 inches) from bottom of pipe. This makes bottom portion of the Flag pole buddy 1 longer and heavier than top portion. A (¼ inch) bolt is placed through (¼ inch) hole 12.

Two nuts will be tightened together (1 and ½ inch) from head of bolt that goes in (¼ inch) hole 12. This Is the swing area 10 seen in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 for the Flag pole buddy 1. A acorn nut 17 will be used inside mail box to protect hands from bolt threads. All bolts nuts and washers are (¼ inch) and will tighten in place as seen in FIG. 3. FIG. 1 shows the Flag pole buddy before mail has arrived FIG. 2 shows after mail has arrived. When Flag pole buddy support 5 is pulled from under the Flag pole buddy 1 the heavier bottom of the Flag pole buddy 1 goes down causing the Flag pole buddy 1 to stand up signaling mail has arrived.

One end of the Flatbar 23 will be bent at (90 Degrees) From the end. This will then bolt 22 to (2 inch) PVC pipe 18 then bolts 20 and 21 will bolt flatbar 23 to mailbox door. All bolts are (¼ inch) and both Flag pole buddys supports work the same way. FIG. 9 and FIG. 10 shows top and front views of Flag Pole Buddy support 19.
