The present invention relates to a pillow, and more particularly to a pillow with buffering effect for a user lying on back or on side to always comfortably rest his or her head on the pillow.
US Patent Publication No. 20060005314 discloses a height adjustable pillow, which includes an extendable and resilient pillow body and an air cushion installed in a chamber inside the pillow body. The pillow body is made of a soft plastic, rubber, or foam products of plastic and rubber. The air cushion can be charged or discharged to adjust the thickness of the pillow, providing comfort with firm support and enhancing sleep quality.
US Patent Publication No. 20040000011 discloses a pressure adjustable pillow, which includes a chamber made of an impermeable material and a cover member. The chamber is defined by a first direction, wherein the internal portion contains fluids. The chamber has three areas that do not communicate with one another. Each of the three areas contains three sealed sacs along the first direction. The sacs are not communicable with one another, and are provided according to a general shape of a head. Each of the sacs is provided with a valve. The cover member encloses the chamber. A user is allowed to adjust the amount of fluid in each sac, so as to adjust the pressure received by the user's head to designated strength when the user sleeps on the user's side or in face-up position.
A primary object of the present invention is to provide a pillow with buffering effect, so that a user lying on back or lying on side can always comfortably rest his or her head on the pillow.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a height adjustable pillow, so that the pillow can always satisfy a user's specific requirement for pillow height.
To achieve the above and other objects, the pillow according to the present invention includes an outer enclosure; an inner enclosure received inside the outer enclosure and provided with an air valve; a fibrous material filled in a space between the outer enclosure and the inner enclosure; and a core received inside the inner enclosure.
The outer enclosure is made of a breathable woven fabric or cloth; the inner enclosure is made of a non-breathable vinyl material; the core is made of a foam rubber latex material; and the fibrous material has a plurality of tiny air spaces existed among the fibers thereof.
With the fibrous material functioning like a cushion and the tiny air spaces functioning to provide a buffering effect, a user lying on back or on side can always comfortably rest his or her head on the pillow to enjoy good sleep quality.
The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a pillow according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 3 is a fragmentary sectional view of the pillow of the present invention.
Please refer to FIG. 1 that is a perspective view of a pillow according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention and to FIG. 2 that is a cross sectional view taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1. As shown, the pillow of the present invention includes an outer enclosure 10, an inner enclosure 20, and a core 30. The inner enclosure 20 is provided with an air valve 21, and is received inside the outer enclosure 10. A fibrous material 11 consisting of a plurality of fibers is filled in a space between the outer enclosure 10 and the inner enclosure 20, so that a plurality of tiny air spaces 12 is existed among the fibers of the fibrous material 11. The tiny air spaces 12 can be the clearance among the fibers of the fibrous material 11. The outer enclosure 10 can be made of a breathable woven fabric or cloth. The inner enclosure 20 can be made of a non-breathable vinyl material. Therefore, air outside the pillow can freely flow through the outer enclosure 10 into the air spaces 12 existed among the fibers of the fibrous material 11, allowing the pillow to provide a buffering effect. Therefore, a user lying on back or on side can always comfortably rest his or her head on the pillow to enjoy good sleep quality.
The core 30 is provided inside the inner enclosure 20, and is made of a foam rubber latex material or a sponge material. The core 30 made of the foam rubber latex material or the sponge material is a porous core. In the present invention, by utilizing a special property of a memory sponge used to make the core 30 and controlling an air volume inside the inner enclosure via the air valve 21, the pillow is height adjustable. When the air valve 21 is opened, air can be led into the inner enclosure 20 and pores of the sponge-made core 30, the memory sponge would restore to an original height and shape. And, when it is desired to adjust the pillow to a different height, simply compress the pillow, and air inside the inner enclosure 20 and the core 30 will be forced to an outer side of the outer enclosure 10 via the air valve 21. When the pillow has been compressed to the desired height, the air valve 21 is closed. The pillow will then maintain at the desired height and the user can comfortably rest his or her head on the pillow.
In brief, the pillow of the present invention not only internally includes fibers to function as a cushion, but also has a plurality of tiny air spaces to thereby provide a buffering effect, allowing a user lying on back or on side to always comfortably rest his or her head on the pillow to enjoy good sleep quality. Moreover, the pillow allows the user to smoothly and comfortably turn his or her head while sleeping.
The present invention has been described with a preferred embodiment thereof and it is understood that many changes and modifications in the described embodiment can be carried out without departing from the scope and the spirit of the invention that is intended to be limited only by the appended claims.
