However, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.

The phrase “in one embodiment” is used repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

The present invention is a tailpipe exhaust nozzle device 10 that can be used with a vehicle with a side exhaust pipe that attaches magnetically and via male/female connection to a tailpipe adapter (TA) placed on the side exhaust pipe (not shown). The tailpipe adapter (TA) is made of galvanized steel. The other end of the exhaust pipe nozzle device 10 is attached to an exhaust hose via a 90 degree stainless steel transition elbow (TE) of a vehicle exhaust removal system, which is then attached to a spiral duct system that is tied into a central fan to expel the dangerous exhaust fumes from the vehicle to the external environment (not shown) of the protected building. The exhaust hose travels with the vehicle along either a track or suction rail and automatically releases from the vehicle tailpipe at the garage door while expelling the dangerous exhaust fumes at all times that the tailpipe nozzle device is connected to the vehicle.

FIGS. 1A and 1B illustrate a tailpipe exhaust nozzle device 10 used in combination with a vehicle exhaust removal system to expel vehicle exhaust fumes from a building from a vehicle with a side exhaust pipe (not shown). The tailpipe adaptor (TA) and the transition elbow (TE) are additional components of the tailpipe exhaust pipe nozzle device 10.

The tailpipe exhaust nozzle device 10 is comprised of a body ring portion 20 that may be in the shape of a cylinder with a bottom 60 that may be in the shape of a cylinder and an inner aperture 30 and a male adaptor 40 that may be in the shape of a cylinder with a side 50 that may be in the shape of a cylinder and a top shelf surface 70 that may be in the shape of a cylinder that is integral with the inner aperture 30, forming a clamp groove 80 between the body ring portion 20 and the top shelf surface 70. The body ring portion 20 and the transition elbow are made of stainless steel and the male tailpipe adapter 40 is made of galvanized steel, both of which are well-known to those schooled in the art. Both the body ring portion 20 and the male tailpipe adapter 40 and their respective component parts can also be made of other materials as well.

There is a plurality of magnets 100 disposed on the top shelf surface 70 for attachment to the tailpipe adapter used in combination with the vehicle exhaust removal system (not shown). The plurality of magnets 100 are rare earth element magnets that are made from rare earth elements or alloys such as neodymium, samarium-cobalt or neodymium-iron-boron. The rare earth element magnets are usually plated to prevent breaking and chipping and are available in sintered and bonded forms. Rare earth element magnets are also well-known to those schooled in the art and are used in a wide variety of magnet applications and are permanently stronger than traditional iron magnets. The plurality of magnets 100 permit the tailpipe exhaust nozzle device 10 to adhere to the tailpipe adapter (TA), in addition to the male/female attachment with the adjustable clamp groove 80 of the transition elbow, which allows the depth of the nozzle when attached to the vehicle tailpipe to be varied.

The exhaust pipe nozzle device 10 also has a polymeric boot 90 attached to the bottom 60 that is attached to an exhaust hose via the transition elbow (TE) of the vehicle exhaust removal system, as indicated earlier in this figure description. The polymeric boot 90 is made of an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) elastomer, which is a material that is well-known to those well-known in the art and has many broad applications. The polymeric boot 90 is also not limited to being made of an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) elastomer and can also be made of other materials as well. The exhaust pipe nozzle device 10, the body ring portion 20, the bottom 60, the male tailpipe adaptor 40, the side 50 and the top shelf surface 70 and the transition elbow may or may not be in the shape of a cylinder or other shape.

FIGS. 2A and 2B illustrate a second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 used in combination with a vehicle exhaust removal system to expel vehicle exhaust fumes from a building from a vehicle with a vertical stack exhaust pipe (not shown). The second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 is comprised of a body ring portion that may be in the shape of a cylinder 210 with a bottom that may be in the shape of a cylinder 220 and an inner aperture 230, a male adaptor that may be in the shape of a cylinder 240 with a side that may be in the shape of a cylinder 250 and a top shelf surface that may be in the shape of a cylinder 260 that is integral with the inner aperture 230, forming a clamp groove 270 between the body ring portion 210 and the top shelf surface 260. The body ring portion 210 and the male adapter 240 and their respective component parts are both made of stainless steel, which is well-known to those schooled in the art. Both the body ring portion 210 and the male adapter 240 and their respective component parts can also be made of other materials as well.

The second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 also utilizes a plurality of tabs 280, each with an individual aperture 290, sidewardly protruding from the bottom 220, to accommodate a means for attaching the second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 to the vehicle with a vertical stack exhaust pipe (not shown). The means for attaching the second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 to the vehicle with a vertical stack exhaust pipe is a plurality of fasteners (not shown), either screws or bolts, both of which are well-known to those schooled in the art. The second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200, the body ring portion 210, the bottom 220, the male adaptor 240, the side 250 and the top shelf surface 260 may or may not be in the shape of a cylinder or other shape. The second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 attaches to the vertical exhaust pipe of the vehicle and then connects to a flexible hose connected to the vehicle exhaust removal system, which then expels the hazardous fumes from the vehicle outside of the building that the vehicle is in.

The purpose of both the exhaust pipe nozzle device 10 and the second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 is to provide an attachment and automatic release from the exhaust tailpipe of a vehicle for the purposes of removing exhaust fumes from a building, while the vehicle is either stationary and running or moving. The exhaust pipe nozzle device 10 and the second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 are different than other devices that utilize rare earth magnets, pneumatic bladders or electromagnets. The exhaust pipe nozzle device 10 and the second exhaust pipe nozzle device 200 can be used to remove hazardous exhaust fumes from fire stations, EMS stations, vehicle repair garages and other buildings where vehicles are emitting hazardous exhaust fumes.

While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.
