Abstract:
The “turbojet powered automobile” of this invention is actually powered by an electric motor for locomotion. The electric motor in this automobile provides a much superior acceleration response and smoother cruising control than can be obtained from a turbojet engine directly. The turbojet engine runs an electric generator that powers a battery pack and the electric motor. This automobile is designed to balance the weight load of the turbojet engine located at the back end of the vehicle with the electric motor, battery pack, and transmission located at the front end of the automobile. The turbojet engine in this automobile can be fueled by ordinary jet fuel, kerosene, diesel, or solid aluminum fuels that have recently been developed. Consequently, this turbojet automobile can be environment friendly, economical, and a lot of fun to drive.

Claims:
I claim:

1. Turbojet powered automobile that utilizes a compressed air turbojet turbine to operate an electric generator which runs an electric motor to propel the vehicle.

2. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that has a turbojet engine located near the rear of the vehicle.

3. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that through a set of reduction gears allows the turbojet engine to run an electrical generator.

4. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that obtains power from the electrical generator run by a turbojet engine to operate an electric motor located near the rear of the automobile.

5. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that has an electric motor located near the rear of the automobile that propels the automobile by means of a transmission that transmits motion to the wheels.

6. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that has a battery pack located near the front of the automobile to store electricity from the electrical generator run by the turbojet engine.

7. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that transmits electrical power from the electrical generator located near the back end of the automobile to the electric motor and battery pack located near the front end of the automobile by means of electrical cables.

8. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that has an intake air port to supply air for the turbojet engine.

9. The turbojet-powered automobile of claim 1 that has two exhaust ports for the compressed air jet stream to exit the turbojet engine in a safe manner away from the automobile.

10. Turbojet powered automobile that has a balanced distribution of weight by means of locating the turbojet engine and electrical generator near the rear of the automobile and by locating the electric motor, transmission, and battery pack near the front end of the automobile.

BACKGROUND

Description of Prior Art

Today a great deal is known about the technology of gas and steam turbine power plants. The use of jet power has been known to the Chinese for centuries. During and after World War II the development and use of jet power for rockets, aircraft, and spacecraft advanced rapidly. Although the development of jet propulsion includes such names as Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton, it was Frank Whittle who applied for a patent for a gas turbine in 1930 that was actually used in an experimental airplane in 1941.

Turbojet engines are common place today, and they are produced by great companies such as Pratt and Whitney, General Electric, and Rolls Royce. These jet engines are used by many aircraft manufacturers.

The force for propulsion from jet engines is due to the thrust from the exhaust jet stream. Experimental jet powered automobiles that use this reaction force from the jet exhaust stream for propulsion have been built by General Motors and other companies. None of these are in commercial use today. Among many reasons that early experimental jet powered automobiles were not successful is that they did not offer good acceleration response and smooth cruise control.

DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION

The “Turbojet Powered Automobile” 1 is actually propelled by an electric motor 6. The turbojet engine 2 operates electrical generator 5 through reduction gears 4. Battery pack 6 receives electric energy from electric generator 5 through electrical cables 9. Electric motor 6 is powered by electricity from electric generator 5 and battery pack 8 through electrical cables 9.

Turbojet engine 2 is located near the back end of automobile body 1, and is weight balanced by electric motor 6, battery pack 8, and transmission 7 located near the front of automobile body 1. Turbojet engine 2 draws air through intake port 3. The compressed air jet stream is exhausted through top exhaust 10 and bottom exhaust 11.
