Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to a box to hold clothing and items to reduce the scent of humans and societal or other environmental aromas or scents on clothing and items. More particularly, this invention relates to an airtight box that has scent absorbing material inside the box, to reduce the scent of humans and societal or other environmental aromas or scents such as clothing and items placed within the airtight box.

Deer evade areas if they sense that humans may be, or may have been in the area. Reduction or elimination of the certain scents, as noted above, allows hunters to disguise their presence to deer when hunting. This allows the deer to roam freely as they would if the deer did not detect humans. Which allows the hunters increased access to deer.

Presently hunters wash themselves and their clothing with scent free soap. However the human scent is disseminated into their clothing upon wearing. While hunting overnight the scent remains in the clothing unless washed with some materials. However washing machines are not common fixtures in hunting cabins or tents.

As can be seen, there is a need for an airtight box that can be transported by the hunters to their hunting area, such as a cabin or tent.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An aspect of the present invention comprises a scent box comprising: a tub having a bottom and an upstanding wall extending upwardly from said bottom to define an inside, said upstanding wall terminating at an tub upper lip, said upper lip having an outside ridge; a top having a top inside surface, a seal disposed on said top inside surface whereby said seal capable of forming an airtight seal by contacting said outside ridge when said top is secured to said tub; and a scent removing material holder disposed inside said tub, whereby said scent removing material holder capable of retaining a scent removing material that may reduce the scent of humans from items placed inside the scent box when closed.

Another aspect of the invention is a scent box that comprises a tub, said tub comprising a tub bottom and four upstanding walls to define an inside; a removable boot holder base disposed adjacent said tub bottom, said removable boot holder base having a boot holder extending upwardly therefrom; a removable platform capable of being disposed in said tub on said removable boot holder base to hold said removable platform upwardly from said tub bottom, said removable platform having aeration apertures and an aperture to receive said boot holder therethrough; and a top capable of securing to said tub to form an airtight seal, said top having a scent absorbing material holder secured to an inside surface, said scent absorbing material holder capable of securing a scent absorbing material therein.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

FIG. 1 illustrates a scent box 20 as an airtight container 20. The airtight container 20 has a tub 30 and a top 40. The tub 30 may have a depth of a few feet, a length of a few feet, and a width of a few feet, which may define a volume to hold 15 to 35 gallons. The tub 30 may have a tub bottom 220 and an upstanding wall 230, or four upstanding walls 230. The four upstanding walls 230 may define a rectangular shape. The four upstanding walls 230 extend upwardly from the tub bottom 220 terminating at a tub upper lip 50. The tub upper lip 50 is configured to mate with a top 40 to detachably mount with the tub upper lip 50, as illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3. The interface of, or mating of the top 40 with the tub bottom 220 may form an airtight seal. The interface of, or mating of the top 40 with the tub bottom 220 may form a hermetic seal between the top 40 and the tub 30. Thus forming an airtight container or airtight box 20. In one exemplary embodiment the top 40 is hingedly connected to the tub 30 to open and close, and still have an airtight or hermetic seal. In a further exemplary embodiment the top 40 has a top handle 210 or two top handles 210 as seen in FIG. 3. The shape of the tub 30 need not be rectangular, it may be circular or any shape so long as the top 40 can be secured to the tub 30 to form an airtight enclosure. FIG. 1 also illustrates a tub handle 260 for lifting said tub.

In a further exemplary embodiment, as also illustrated in FIGS. 2, 3, and 4, a seal 200 may be disposed adjacent a top inside surface 230 configured to mate with an outside edge 55 of the tub upper lip 50 when the top 40 secured to the tub upper lip 50, in which case the seal 200 is adjacent and contacts the outside edge 55 to form an airtight seal between the top 40 and the tub 30.

The top 40 may have a scent absorbing material holder 170 secured to the top inside surface 230. The scent absorbing material holder 170 may have apertures to hold the materials, such as zoelite®, charcoal, carbon, or possibly baking soda.

FIG. 1 also illustrates a removable boot holder base 190 disposed on the tub bottom 220. The removable boot holder base 190 has a boot holder 180 extending upwardly therefrom, terminating at a height that is below the tub upper lip 50, so that boots can be placed upside down, and the top 40 can be securely closed to the tub 30. In one exemplary embodiment, the boot holder base 190 has two boot holders 180 extending upwardly therefrom. In one exemplary embodiment the boot holder 180 extend upwardly through boot holder apertures 240 of the removable panel 160. The removable panel 160 is disposed upwardly from the tub bottom 220, and it 160 is oriented to be positioned substantially perpendicular with the tub bottom 220. The removable panel 160 may rest on a support member 250, or it 160 may rest on the removable boot holder base 190 to retain the removable panel 160 upwardly from the tub bottom 220. Another exemplary embodiment may provide that the removable panel 160 be supported by other types of support structures (not shown) such as pegs that extend upwardly from the tub bottom 220, or the removable platform 160 may rest on a ridge (not shown) that extends inwardly from any of the inside surfaces of any of the upstanding walls.

FIG. 5 illustrates on exemplary embodiment of the present invention having a bag 70 on the inside of the tub 30. These bags 70 can hold various items for scent reduction or elimination. In one exemplary embodiment the bag 70 is secured to a tub inside surface 280.

FIG. 6 illustrates the removable panel 160 removed from the tub 30.

Other exemplary embodiments of the invention that may not be illustrated in the figures include a mesh pocket 90 that may hold a checklist 100 for the hunter's use to ensure that all desired items are obtained, and if desired—placed in the scent box 20, before the hunting trip, or for the return home. The clear pocket 90 may be removably secured to a tub outside surface 270. The top 30 and tub 40 may each have a lock aperture 120 for receiving a locking member such as a padlock, to lock the tub 30 with the top 40 when the top 40 is hingedly secured to the tub 30 to open and close.

Other exemplary embodiments that may not be illustrated include the tub 30 may be supported by wheels 130 to enable the tub to roll, or be pulled by a pull handle 140. A mat 150 may be supplied as part of the present invention so the hunter can stand on the mat when removing garments.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
