Backpack with umbrella support

The present utility model discloses a modified structure of a backpack umbrella support. The support is fixed on the backpack and has a holder on the top. The umbrella handle is mounted on the holder, which tilts towards the human body at an angle. For this reason, when the umbrella is fixed on the holder, the umbrella will tilt towards the human body, thereby covering the entire human body under the canopy of the umbrella, and providing better protection against the sunlight or rain.

Having thus set forth the nature of the invention, what is claimed herein is:

1. A backpack with umbrella support comprises: a backpack having a front side with shoulder straps extending therefrom, said backpack having an umbrella support connected to the backpack, said umbrella support having a top with a holder thereon; and an umbrella releasably connected to the holder, and wherein the holder is tilted relative to the top of the umbrella support toward the front side of the backpack at an angle.

2. The backpack of claim 1, wherein the umbrella support and a portion of the front side of the backpack are both curved surfaces configured to conform to a back of the human body.

3. The backpack of claim 1, wherein the angle the holder tilts towards the front side of the backpack is intermediate about 5 to 20 degrees.

4. The backpack of claim 1, wherein the umbrella handle and the umbrella holder are connected by one of screwing and clamping.

5. A backpack and umbrella combination, said combination comprising: a backpack; an umbrella support connectable to the backpack in a first configuration, said umbrella support having at least a portion extending along an axis, said axis perpendicular to a perpendicular axis extending perpendicularly through a back of a user; a holder located at the top of the umbrella support, said holder angled relative to the axis; and an umbrella having a handle connectable to the holder of the support.

6. The combination of claim 5 wherein the backpack further comprises a slot downwardly extending into the backpack, and said umbrella support is received within the slot when installed.

7. The combination of claim 6 further comprising a cover which has an installed configuration which extends over at least a portion of the slot.

8. The combination of claim 5 wherein the holder is angled at about 5 to about 20 degrees relative to the axis.

9. The combination of claim 8 wherein the handle has a hole tapped to receive threads, and the holder has threads, said holder and said hole cooperating to connect the holder to the handle in an installed configuration.

10. The combination of claim 5 wherein the umbrella support has a curved front surface.

11. The combination of claim 5 wherein the umbrella support is connectedly secured to the backpack.

12. The combination of claim 11 wherein the connection further comprises screws.

13. A backpack and umbrella kit comprising: a backpack having a slot extending into a top portion of the backpack and two straps extending from a front end of the backpack, an umbrella support inserted into the slot, said umbrella support having a holder at a top of the umbrella support, a perpendicular axis extending through the front of the backpack, an umbrella support axis extending perpendicularly to the perpendicular axis; the holder angled relative to the umbrella support axis and having threads; and an umbrella having a handle, said handle having a tapped hole configured to cooperate with the threads of the holder.

14. The kit of claim 13 wherein the holder is angled at 5 to 20 degrees relative to the umbrella support axis.

15. The kit of claim 13 wherein the umbrella support has a curved front side.

FOREIGN CLAIM OF PRIORITY

[0001] This application claims the benefit of Chinese Patent Application No. 03226493.3 filed May 22, 2003.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present utility model pertains to a modified structure of a backpack umbrella support.

[0003] In order to facilitate use by people, a backpack or bicycle umbrella has hit the market, wherein the umbrella is mounted on the backpack or bicycle with a fixed support, thereby eliminating the need for the user to keep the umbrella spread by using both hands.

[0004] As far as the backpack umbrella is concerned, mounting is typically as follows: a fixed support is mounted on the backpack; the fixed support generally contains a holder. Then, the handle of the umbrella is screwed onto the holder. This method, however, has the following inadequacy: as the backpack is slung over the back of the human body, the backpack tends to tilt backwards, which causes the umbrella to tilt backwards when the umbrella is mounted on the backpack; this tilting makes it impossible for the canopy of the umbrella to provide a full shelter on top of the human body, thereby undermining the protection against the sunlight or rain.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present utility model is intended to provide a modified structure of a backpack umbrella support which allows the umbrella to stay closer to the human body.

[0006] In order to achieve the above purpose, the technical solution of the present utility model is as follows: a modified structure of a backpack umbrella support, wherein the support is fixed on the backpack and has a holder on the top, and the umbrella handle is mounted on the holder, which tilts towards the human body at an angle.

[0007] The connection surface of the support and the backpack is the curved surface pressing onto the back of the human body.

[0008] The holder tilts towards the human body at an angle ranging from 5 to 20 degrees.

[0009] The umbrella handle and the holder are connected by screwing or clamping.

[0010] The said technical solution allows the holder of the support in the present utility model to tilt towards the human body at an angle, which causes the umbrella fixed onto the holder to tilt towards the human body, thereby covering the entire body under the canopy of the umbrella, and providing better protection against the sunlight or rain.

[0011] Furthermore, as the connection surface of the support and the backpack is of a curved surface design, the curved surface can match the back of the human body, which allows the support press more closely onto the back of the human body, thereby preventing the umbrella from tilting backwards.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0016] As shown in FIG. 1, the backpack has an umbrella support 2 inserted into the holding pouch 21 on an inner side or front of the backpack 2. The holding pouch 21 is sewn onto the side close to the back of the human body when worn. The portion of the backpack 2 above the holding pouch 21 has a slot 22. The slot 22 is preferably provided with a cover 23.

[0017] The backpack contains two straps 14,16 as are known in the art. The straps extend over the arms of a user so that an individual's back (not shown) is adjacent the front 32 of the backpack 2.

[0018] The top of the support 1 has a holder 11; the holder 11 has external screw threads. The holder 11 tilts towards the human body at an angle, which should preferable between 5 to 20 degrees. The connection or front surface 12 of the support 1 and backpack 2 are both curved surfaces pressing onto the back of the human body.

[0019] The support 1 preferably extends at least partially along axis 18 which is preferably perpendicular to a surface that the backpack is transported over such as the ground. The axis 18 is perpendicular to a direction of the front 32 of the backpack 2. Accordingly, when in use, the axis 18 is parallel to a back of the human body so that the holder 11 is angled between 5 and 20 degrees relative to the axis 18 as well as the human body. The holder 11 connects to the support 1 at a base 20. The base 20 is preferably perpendicular to the axis 18. A perpendicular axis 50 is perpendicular to the axis 18. Perpendicular axis 50 and base 20 are parallel in the preferred embodiment.

[0020] The bottom end of the umbrella handle 3 contains a tap hole 31.

[0021] As shown in FIG. 2, for connection, insert the support 1 into the holding pouch 21; to increase stability, a set of screws and nuts can be used to mount the support 1 on the backpack 2. For use, simply twist the tap hole 21 on the umbrella handle 3 onto the external screw threads on the holder 11; thus, the umbrella can be maintain in place on the backpack 2.

[0022] As shown in FIG. 3, as the connection surface 12 of the support 1 and the backpack 2 is of a curved surface design; the curved surface can press closely onto the back of the human body, thereby making the support 1 closely fit the human body; as the holder 11 tilts towards the human body at an angle, the umbrella mounted onto the holder 11 tends to tilt towards the human body, thereby putting the entire human body under the shelter of the umbrella canopy.

[0023] Furthermore, the holder 11 on the support 1 and the umbrella handle 3 in the present utility model can be connected by ways other than the above screwing method; clamping or any other connecting methods may also be used.

However, it is to be understood that the present disclosure relates to the preferred embodiment of the invention which is for purposes of illustration only and not to be construed as a limitation of the invention.
