Title:
SK PADS
Kind Code:
A1

Abstract:
The SK PADS are new in that there are no elastic bands, straps, strings or button straps to keep the kneepads in place. The user must take a clean pair of workpants free from any holes in or around the area where the SK PADS are to be attached. All the user has to do is heat the area on the workpants where the SK PAD system is going to be placed with a common household iron. The user must next place the SK PAD's loop fastening section that contains the heat sealing patch on that area and press it into place by applying pressure on all four (4) corners of the patch for approximately thirty (30) seconds. After the patch is allowed to cool, the patch must be checked to ensure that a tight fit has been made to the workpants. For the optimal result, the pants and patch must be left for four (4) hours for the patch to cool.

Claims:

What I claim as my invention is that:

1. The SK PADS are easy to use.

2. The SK PADS attach to a person's work clothes regardless of that person's height weight or body structure, maximizing the utility of this invention.

3. The portion of the SK PAD system that is heat sealed (ironed on) to the workpants can be washed with the pants.

4. The SK PADS are painless to the wearer because there are no fasteners that are constrictive.

5. The SK PADS will not cut off blood circulation to the wearer's legs, which could cause discomfort.

Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] This invention pertains to the construction industry. Knee pads are used in almost every aspect of the construction industry. It is necessary to wear kneepads so the knees can be protected when doing work that involves kneeling or crawling of any kind. The problem with knee pads that are currently on the market being that given the way that they are worn, they serve to interrupt blood circulation, place a strain on the nerves running through the lower legs and cause pain in the area.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Prior use of conventional knee pads for long periods of time have caused pain and from personal experience have cut off blood circulation to the front and back sections of the legs. The invention of the SK PADS will revolutionize the kneepad industry in that the SK PADS will have no elastic bands, straps, strings or button straps to keep the kneepads in place. Consequently, the SK PADS are painless and will not cause blood circulation problems that one does experience with the old pads. Furthermore, the SK PADS were invented so that construction workers can work for extended periods of time prevented by other kneepads currently on the market.

[0009] FIG. 1G. This is a picture jointly showing the back, side, and front views of the detachable section of the knee pad system.

[0010] FIG. 1H. These are pictures of both the hook and loop sections of the fastening system shown alongside the kneepad system.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0011] The SK PADS are new kneepads that will enable construction workers who have jobs that entail kneeling or crawling to worker longer without pain and medical problems that deal with the circulation of blood through the legs. Current kneepads are presently held in place over the knees by elastic bands, straps, strings, or button straps. Consequently, construction workers frequently must stop work in order to remove the kneepads and/or stretch their legs because the old kneepads cause problems to the area that elastic bands or fasteners are attached and throughout the lower legs.

[0012] The SK PADS do not have elastic bands, straps, strings or button straps to hold them in place. This new kneepad comes in two parts. It has a foam pad that has a hook section of a hook and loop fastening system sewn onto the back of the pad. The other section of the section consists of the loop section of the hook and loop fastening system that on its reverse side is attached to a patch which may be heat sealed (ironed on) to an ordinary pair of work pants.

[0013] Accordingly, a construction or other worker can easily attach the pad section of the SK PAD system by placing matching the hook and loop fastening system together with light pressure, with removal requiring only a light pull on the pad section of the system. Additional novelty of the system lies with the fact that the SK PADS are held firmly in place no matter the height, weight or body shape of the person who uses them. Finally there is a significant benefit in that the pants can be regularly washed with little or no harm to the attached portion of the SK PAD system.

[0014] The manufacturing of the SK PADS can be done with a nominal cost to the manufacturer and it could be sold to construction or other workers who would be able to buy them at a cost typically less than they are currently paying.
