Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1) Field of the Invention

[0002] The field of invention relates to a breast support feeding pillow. More particularly, the invention provides for a foam triangular pillow with a cotton material covering. The invention supports a female's breast while she breast feeds a nursing baby. The device is placed under the female's breast at a right angle underneath the breast being used to nurse the baby and the invention provides such female a more relaxed and comfortable experience.

[0003] 2) Description of Prior Art

[0004] In the prior art, a female may use a rolled up towel or bed pillow to support her breast while nursing a baby. The problem with these devices is that they are not easy to use, not very convenient to carry, do not fit easily under the female's clothes, and cause a cramped neck to the female.

[0005] It is also known that a female, who nurses her baby, may not use any item to support her breast. The problem presented in this instance is that the female must use two hands to cradle her nursing baby and this method also causes a cramped neck and tired arms.

[0006] U.S. Pat. Nos. 6,081,948 and D412,082 depict a breast pillow wherein a woman's breast rest within and are received by a cavity within such breast pillow. But the present invention does not engulf a female's breast, but, rather, the present invention supports a woman's breast during breast feeding a baby.

[0007] Thus, the prior art devices do not allow a female nursing her baby to avoid aches and pains in her neck and arms, are not easy to travel with, not easy to use, and not a very good solution under the circumstances presented to such female. The present invention overcomes these disadvantages.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known prior art, the present invention provides a foam triangular pillow with a cotton material covering. As such, the general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new and improved device which has all the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

[0009] To attain this, the present invention provides a foam triangular pillow. The preferred dimensions of such pillow are as follows: the breast support platform is approximately five and half (5½) inches in length and four (4) inches wide; the rib support portion is approximately three (3) inches high; and the angle between the breast support platform and rib support portion is ninety (90) degrees. But the dimensions can vary based on the size of the woman's breast being supported. Such pillow is covered by a cotton material to provide a soft support and can be easily cleaned. The invention supports a woman's breast while feeding a nursing baby. The invention is easy to travel with and is designed to fit under a woman's breast which a woman can use with her clothes on. The invention is designed such that it does not injure the female or the nursing baby.

[0010] The invention resides not in any one of these features per se, but rather in the particular combination of all of them herein disclosed and claimed, and it is distinguished from the prior art in this particular combination of all its structures for the functions specified.

[0011] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present invention. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.

[0012] Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientists, engineers and practitioners in the art who are familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application. The abstract is neither intended to define the invention of the application, which is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting as to the scope of the invention in any way.

[0013] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved device which has all of the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

[0014] It is another object of the present invention to provide a new and improved device which allows a female nursing her baby to nurse such baby hands free so such female can read, talk on the phone, work on a computer or the like.

[0015] It is a further object of the present invention to promote a new and improved device which is easy to use.

[0016] It is a further object of the present invention to promote a new and improved device which is easy to travel with.

[0017] It is a further object of the present invention to promote a new and improved device which provides an easy method to support a female's breast while nursing a baby so as to avoid pains in her neck and arms.

[0018] An even further object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved device which is susceptible of a low cost of manufacture with regard to both materials and labor, and which accordingly is then susceptible of low prices of sale to the consuming public, thereby making such device economically available to the buying public.

[0019] Still yet another object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved device which provides in the materials used to make the invention an invention that does not injure the female or the nursing baby.

[0020] These together with other objects of the invention, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure. For a better understanding of the invention, its operating advantages and the specific objects attained by its use, reference should be had to accompanying drawings and descriptive matter which there is illustrated preferred embodiments of the invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0021] The invention will be better understood based on the following detailed description. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawing wherein:

[0022] FIG. 1 shows an isometric view of the invention.

[0023] FIG. 2 shows a side view of the invention in use.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0024] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular FIGS. 1 and 2, the breast support feeding pillow which embodies the principles and concepts of the present invention.

[0025] With reference to FIG. 1, FIG. 1 depicts an isometric view of the present invention. The breast support feeding pillow 2 is a triangular foam pillow which is specifically designed to support, and comfort a woman while she breast feeds a baby. It comprises a breast support platform 4 that supports the woman's breast. The breast support platform 4 is approximately five and half (5½) inches long and four (4) inches wide. The invention also comprises a rib support portion 6. The rib support portion 6 is placed against a woman's rib, just under the breast. The rib support portion is approximately three (3) inches high. The angle between the breast support platform 4 and rib support portion 6 is approximately ninety (90) degrees. A base 8 connects the breast support platform 4 and a rib support portion 6. Thus, a triangle is formed. The breast support feeding pillow 2 is made of a soft foam rubber material. The preferred method is to cover the breast support feeding pillow with a cotton material. In this way, the woman can use the invention comfortably and not injure the baby.

[0026] With reference to FIG. 2, FIG. 2 depicts a side view of the invention in use. With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the invention operates as follows: (1) the female places the breast support platform 4 directly under the breast in which she is going to feed the baby from; (2) the female places the rib support portion 6 against her rib; (3) the invention, then, fits snugly under the breast and supports the breast as the female breast feeds the baby. In this way, the female can feed the baby hands free and with no discomfort.

[0027] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the invention to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.

[0028] Thus, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.
