BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a unique set of components or playing a novel tag game and an improved method of laying a tag game.

(2) Background

Tag”, as it is commonly called, has long been an easy, active and fun game for two or more people, typically children, to play. A first person is chosen at random to be “it”. Then, that person runs after the other players and attempts to touch, e.g. “tag”, one of the other players who, at the same time, is trying to keep his or her distance from the person who is “it”. If a player is tagged, the person who is currently “it” exclaims “Tag, you're it!” or “You're it!”, or some other similar expression, and the newly tagged person now is “it” and has to chase the others players. Since the game is open ended (i.e. there is no set ending point or goal), the game continues until the players become tired or bored. Sometimes, if a player who is slower than the other players is tagged, that player may quickly lose interest in the game if he or she cannot successfully tag someone else in a relatively short period of time.

One variant of tag is touch football. Touch football is played like conventional football, except that instead of tackling the player carrying the football, in order to stop play, another player has to touch the ball-carrying player with both hands. This results in fewer injuries and allows players to play football without any gear whatsoever except, of course, a football. However, one problem with touch football is that it is often difficult to determine whether or not a player carrying the football has actually been touched with both the hands of an opposing player. Disagreements over this can often arise, especially if there is no referee to mediate the game.

Flag football is a more accurate version of touch football. Each player affixes a belt around his or her waist carrying two (2) or more “flags” detachably connected thereto, e.g. one “flag” is detachably affixed on the player's right side and the other “flag” is detachably affixed on the player's left side. Each flag is generally a strip of flexible plastic or laminated fabric, typically ten to fourteen inches long and one to three inches wide, and hangs down the side of the player's leg. Numerous means have been devised to detachably connect the “flags” to the belt. One popular means is to use VELCRO™ brand hook/loop fasteners. Another means is to have a pair of ball joint receptacles on the belt, with one end of each “flag” being outfitted with a corresponding ball joint member.

Every player of each flag football team is provided with a flag belt, with the flags of each team being generally one of two (2) colors (flag football sets are sold with a number of belts, and a number of flags of one color and a number of flags of another color). During play, if one of the “flags” of a ball-carrying player is detached (i.e. grabbed and yanked off) by an opposing player, the ball-carrying player is considered tagged or tackled, play stops, and the players regroup for another “play”. The tagged player reattaches the detached flag and the game resumes.

The example embodiments are in such detail as to clearly communicate the invention. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments. On the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present invention. The detailed descriptions below are designed to make such embodiments obvious to a person of ordinary skill in the art.

The primary objective of the invention is to provide a game that promotes interactions between for social gatherings like parties, events etc. According to the invention the method of playing a game in a social gathering to promote acquaintance between personals in said gathering.

The invention is a game for large parties that need name tags (but no one wants to wear one) it can be for strangers or familiar friends. The party game encourages mingling and name recognition. According to the invention a participating personal needs to capture the maximum number of tags within a set time.

Everyone gets a tag with their name on as they enter. It must be worn on either side of the upper chest, shoulder area. To capture a tag you must touch it gently on the tag that a personal is wearing before the owner defends it. Further to defend a tag, a personal needs to cover it with their hand before it is touched, if a player has a string of tags an opponent just needs to place hand on the first tag obtain the whole string and to defend the whole string of tag an owner just needs to cover the tag on the top of the string.

The objective is to collect as many tags as possible to win. Each player is forced to approach new people that they may not know and interact with them by creating conversation as a distraction to draw an opponent's attention away from guarding his/her tag is a tactic used.

As people arrive at an event, the host will issue a removable, clip on name tag. (Each tag has a space for writing his or her name.) The tags will be separated according to gender by the host. Each tag may or may not have a caricature with a specific title. (ie. party girl, muscleman, etc. . . . ) The option of picking a specific caricature trait and issuing it to each player is given to the host, or they can just be issued randomly.

In a preferred embodiment the method comprises of providing each personals in the gathering with a unique detachable tag to be worn on the clothing of a personal, further the personal has to obtain the tag worn by a competing personal participating in the same game, however the personal can defend the tag worn by himself/herself, also the game needs to be played in a fix time. Furthermore, the unique detachable tags are body tags with designs on them. The designs are made to identify sex, profession, height, weight and figure (shape and size). Body tag can be played at any social gathering like home parties, business parties, bridal parties, baby showers, fraternity parties, holiday gatherings. DJs can include it in a Happy Hour event at different bars.

Further according to the invention the unique detachable tags that are used in the game to identify a personal comprises of the name of the personal wearing the detachable tag. The detachable tag is worn on either side of the upper chest or on the either side of the shoulder area of the personal.

According to the invention a personal needs to obtain more tags in order to win in the game, at the end of the session the personal having the maximum number of tags will be considered as the winner. Personal in order to be a winner of the game needs to obtain a tag from another competing personal need to touch the tag worn by the other personal participating in the game. Personals in order to protect their tags can cover it with their hands. However a personal who has acquired a plurality of tag can protect all those by cover the tag on the top of the string of tags. Further the tag on the top of the string of tag is the tag that identifies the personal wearing it. And if a competing personal touches the tag at the top of the string the complete stings of tags gets acquired by the personal. Furthermore any player can enter the game at any point of time.

Further the game may include forming alliances with other players can help obtain body tags quicker and easier. Distracting opposing players with conversation is a tactic that can be used. Waiting for opponents to drink from a beverage is an opportune moment to capture a tag.

Furthermore, after losing tag, a personal can opt to wait awhile before recapturing tag so the person with the personal with captured tag will collect more tags, this will allow accumulating more tags all at once.

Also a time frame can be set for game play. At the end of the time frame for example 2 or 3 hours the player with the most body tags is deemed the winner. People tend to arrive at events or gatherings at different times. The game can function and continue with new players arriving at any point during the game play. A new player can arrive at an event in which the game has already started; he or she can capture the leading opponent's tags just as easily as losing his own. There is no advantage or disadvantage at arriving early or late (unless the game has ended) mingling with opponents who have already lost their tags pose no threat of capture.

In one embodiment the invention is a game played in a social gathering to promote acquaintance between personals in the gathering, the game comprises of providing each personals in the gathering with a unique detachable tag to be worn on the clothing of a personal, the personal to obtain the tag worn by a competing personal participating in the game which needs to be defended and the game completes in a fixed time.
