Abstract:
The invention is a pillow that comprises the first pillow section, at least one height adjustment unit, and a pedestal. The first pillow section is for a user to rest his/her head on. The height adjustment unit includes an elevator unit which connects to the first pillow section, and a support unit to work with the elevator unit as the control of the up/down movement of the first pillow section. The pedestal connects to the support unit of the height adjustment unit. The space above the pedestal and underneath the first pillow section defines the resting space for a user to rest his/her hands and arms. Adjusting the pillow to a proper height via the height adjustment unit, a user can rest his/her head on the pillow and allow his/her spine to maintain in a horizontal position to prevent any spinal curvature.

Claims:
I claim:

1. A pillow which comprises: a) The first pillow section for a user to rest his/her head; b) At least one height adjustment unit comprising an elevator unit which connects to the first pillow section, and a support unit to work with the elevator unit as the control of the up and down movement of the first pillow section; and c) The pedestal which connects to the support unit of the height adjustment unit where the space above the pedestal and underneath the first pillow section defines the resting space for a user to rest his/her hands and arms.

The pillow of claim 1, wherein said elevator unit in said at least one height adjustment unit comprises a first iron bracket that connects to the lower side of the first pillow section, a first shell to cover the first iron bracket, and a first wave board and a vertical first hollow slot in the portion of the iron bracket that is not connected to the first pillow section.

The pillow of claim 2, wherein said support unit in said at least one height adjustment unit comprises of a second iron bracket that connects to the upper side of the pedestal and touches the first iron bracket to allow concurrent movement of the first iron bracket and first shell, a second shell that covers the second iron bracket and partially covered by the first shell, a second wave board that corresponds to and overlaps with the first wave board, and a second hollow slot that opposites to the first hollow slot.

The pillow of claim 3, wherein said at least one height adjustment unit comprises of a bolt that serves as the user-controlled knob, and a fastening piece connecting to the bolt where the bolt enters from outside of the first and second hollow slots, penetrates the first and second wave boards, and protrudes the second wave board to connect to the fastening piece.

5. The pillow of claim 4, further comprises a second pillow section placed above pedestal and adjacent to at least a height adjustment unit.

6. The pillow of claim 5, where the height of both sides of the second pillow section is lower than the lowest side of the first pillow section.

7. The pillow of claim 6, further comprises a third pillow section and another height adjustment unit that connects the third pillow section and the upper end of the pedestal, to render the third pillow section, along with its height adjustment unit, jointly adjacent to the second pillow section.

8. The pillow of claim 4, where at least one height adjustment unit is connected to the bottom of each of the two broader sides of the first pillow section, and the bottom of each height adjustment unit connects to the pedestal with the two arches of the pedestal facing each other to form an arm-resting space.

9. The pillow of claim 8, where the number of height adjustment unit is four with each height adjustment unit separately connects to the four corners under the first pillow section, and each height adjustment unit either connects separately to each pedestal, or two height adjustment units at each side connect together to the same pedestal.

10. The pillow of claim 8, where the number of height adjustment unit is three with two of the three height adjustment units separately connect to the front and back corners underneath one broader side of the first pillow section and another height adjustment unit connects to the middle portion underneath the other broader side of the first pillow section, and the bottom of each height adjustment unit individually connects to the pedestal.

Description:

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is a pillow that comprises the first pillow section, at least one height adjustment unit, and a pedestal. The first pillow section is for a user to rest his/her head on. The height adjustment unit includes an elevator unit which connects to the first pillow section, and a support unit to work with the elevator unit as the control of the up/down movement of the first pillow section. The pedestal connects to the support unit of the height adjustment unit. The space above the pedestal and underneath the first pillow section defines the resting space for a user to rest his/her hands and arms. Adjusting the pillow to a proper height via the height adjustment unit, a user can rest his/her head on the pillow and allow his/her spine to maintain in a horizontal position to prevent any spinal curvature. The resting space allows a user to comfortably place his/her hands and arms there to avoid any pain that may be caused by pressing the user's head directly on his/her hands/arms. Thus, this invention improves the user's quality of sleep.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Having a good quality of sleep and rest is hard to achieve for people with busy life styles in a modern society. The quality of sleep can be improved if the head, shoulder, neck, or even the body posture can stretch properly in sleep.

In general, people who use their hands as a pillow to sleep on often wake up with numbness in their hands. Others sleep on pillows without height adjustment function may find aches and discomfort after sleep, and still cannot have good quality of sleep.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention is a pillow that comprises the first pillow section, at least one height adjustment unit, and a pedestal. The first pillow section is for a user to rest his/her head on. The height adjustment unit includes an elevator unit which connects to the first pillow section, and a support unit to work with the elevator unit as the control of the up/down movement of the first pillow section. The pedestal connects to the support unit of the height adjustment unit. The space above the pedestal and underneath the first pillow section defines the resting space for a user to rest his/her hands and arms. Adjusting the pillow to a proper height via the height adjustment unit, a user can rest his/her head on the pillow and allow his/her spine to maintain in a horizontal position to prevent any spinal curvature. The resting space allows a user to comfortably place his/her hands and arms there to avoid any pain that may be caused by pressing the user's head directly on his/her hands/arms. Thus, this invention improves the user's quality of sleep.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Thus, the purpose of the present invention is to provide a pillow such that users can place their hands and arms in the resting space of the pillow and maintain their spines in straight position while sleeping.

To achieve this purpose, the pillow described in the present invention comprises of a first pillow section for users to rest their heads; a height adjustment unit comprising of an elevator unit which connects to the first pillow section, and a support unit to work with the elevator unit as the control of the up/down movement of the first pillow section; and a pedestal that connects to the support unit of the height adjustment unit. The space above the pedestal and underneath the first pillow section defines the resting space for a user to rest his/her hands and arms. The elevator unit within the height adjustment unit comprises of a first iron bracket that connects to the lower side of the first pillow section, a first shell to cover the first iron bracket, and a first wave board and a vertical first hollow slot in the part of the iron bracket that is not connected to the first pillow section.

The support unit of the height adjustment unit comprises of a second iron bracket that connects to the upper side of the pedestal and touches the first iron bracket to allow concurrent movement of the first iron bracket and first shell, a second shell that covers the second iron bracket and partially covered by the first shell, a second wave board that corresponds to and overlaps with the first wave board, and a second hollow slot that opposites to the first hollow slot.

The height adjustment unit also has a bolt that serves as a user-controlled knob and a fastening piece connecting to the bolt. The bolt enters from outside of the first and second hollow slots, penetrates the first and second wave boards, and protrudes the second wave board to connect to the fastening piece.

The effect of the invention is achieved when users actively turn the knob to cause corresponding, overlapping and moving of the first and second wave boards, coupling with the tightening and loosening of the bolt and fastening piece, to adjust to the appropriate height of the pillow for their sleeping position while keeping their spines straight and resting their arms on the resting space. Therefore, comparing to conventional technology, the present invention will substantially enhance user's quality of sleep.

The specifics of the invention will be described in detail below, along with corresponding figures.

As depicted in FIGS. 1 and 2, the first example of the implementation of the present invention comprises of (1) a first pillow section, (2) a height adjustment unit and (3) a pedestal. The first pillow section (1) is for users to rest their heads/arms on. In practice, the surface of the first pillow section can be covered with soft, flexible material such as, but not limited to, latex. The height adjustment unit (2) has an elevator unit (21) that connects to the first pillow section (1), and a support unit (22) that combines with the elevator unit (21) to allow users moves the first pillow section (1) up and down.

The elevator unit (21) of the height adjustment unit (2) comprises of a first iron bracket (211) that connects to the lower side of the first pillow section (1), and a first shell (212) that covers the first bracket (211). The first iron bracket (211) has a first wave board (2111) and a vertical first hollow slot (2112) in the portion that is not connected to the first pillow section (1). As shown in FIGS. 2 to 5, the support unit (22) of the height adjustment unit (2) has a second iron bracket (221) that touches the first iron bracket (211) and connects to the upper side of the pedestal (3) to enable synchronized movement of the first bracket (211) and the first shell (212). The second iron bracket (221) includes a second wave board (2211) that corresponds to and overlaps with the first wave board (2111), and a second hollow slot (2212) relative to the first hollow slot (2112).

The height adjustment unit (2) includes a bolt (231), a control knot (23) and a fastening piece (24) to work with the bolt (231). The bolt (231) enters from outside of the first and second hollow slots (2112, 2212), go through the first and second wave boards (2111, 2211), and protrudes the second wave board (2211) to connect to the fastening piece (24). The pedestal (3) connects to the support unit (22) of the height adjustment unit (2). The space between the pedestal (3) and the first pillow section (1) is defined as the user's hand/arm resting space (31).

By combining these elements together, as shown in FIGS. 1 through 7, the implementation of the present invention allows individual users to turn the knob (23) based on their various needs to cause the corresponding overlapping and movement of first wave board (2111) and second wave board (2211), coupling with the tightening and loosening of the bolt (231) and fastening piece (24), to adjust the pillow to a comfortable height. In addition, they can rest their arms in the resting space (31). Thus, this example of the implementation greatly enhances the quality of the user's sleep by providing arm resting space and allowing users to stretch their spines at a desirable height.

The second example of implementation of the present invention, as depicts in FIGS. 8 and 9, along with FIG. 2, also includes a first pillow section (1), at least one height adjustment unit (2), and a pedestal (3). This implementation differs from the first example in the following: Connect at least one height adjustment unit (2) underneath each of the two longer edges of the first pillow section (1); The bottom of each height adjustment unit (2) connects to the pedestal (3); The two arches of the pedestal (3) facing each other to form an arm-resting space (31). In this example, the width of each height adjustment unit (2) is designed to be the same as the width of the first pillow section (1) and the pedestal (3). However, the style in actual use can have other variations.

With a combination of the above components, as shown in FIGS. 2, 8, 9 and 13, the second implementation example of the present invention allows various users to directly control the knob (23) based on their needs to manipulate the corresponding overlap between the first wave board (2111) and the second wave board (2211). Coupling with the tightening and loosening of the bolt (231) and fastening piece (24), a comfortable height that fits the user's posture will be achieved. Also, this implementation allows users to rest their arms in the resting space (31). Furthermore, the above-mentioned height levels users' head with their spine that keeps their spines straight. Therefore this implementation, similar to the first implementation example, will also greatly enhance the user's sleep quality.

As shown in FIGS. 10 and 2, the third example of implementation of the present invention also includes a first pillow section (1), at least one height adjusting unit (2) and a pedestal (3). It differs from the second example in the following: There are four height adjustment units (2); Each height adjustment unit (2) connects to one of the four corners under the first pillow section's (1) separately; The bottom of each height adjustment unit (2) connects to the pedestal (3) individually or altogether.

With a combination of the above components, as shown in FIGS. 2, 10 and 14, the third example of implementation of the present invention provides arm resting space (31) to users. The adjusted height described above allows users to straight their spines in sleep. Thus, it can also achieve the purpose of enhancing user's quality of sleep.

As shown in FIGS. 11 and 2, the fourth example of implementation of the present invention includes a first pillow section (1), at least one height adjustment unit (2) and a pedestal (3). The number of height adjustment units (2) is four in the example. Each height adjustment unit separately connects to the four corners under the first pillow section (1). Two height adjustment units (2) at each broader side connect together to the same pedestal (3). With a combination of the above components, as shown in FIGS. 2, 11 and 15, the fourth example of implementation of present invention provides resting space (31) for users to rest their arms at sleep, and the above-mentioned adjusted height allows users to straight their heads and spines. Thus, it can also achieve the purpose of enhancing user's quality of sleep.

As shown in FIGS. 12 and 2, the fifth example of implementation of present invention includes a first pillow section (1), at least one height adjustment unit (2) and a pedestal (3). The number of height adjustment units (2) is three. Two of the three height adjustment units separately connect to the front and back corners underneath one broader side of the first pillow section (1); The other height adjustment unit (2) connects to the middle portion underneath another broader side of the first pillow section (1). The bottom of each height adjustment unit (2) individually connects to the pedestal (3).

With a combination of the above components, as depicted in FIGS. 2, 12 and 16, the fifth example of implementation of present invention provides resting space (31) for users to rest their arms at sleep, and the above-mentioned adjusted height allows users to level and straight their heads with their spines. Thus, it can also achieve the purpose of enhancing user's quality of sleep.

Presented in FIGS. 17 and 18, along with FIG. 2, the sixth example of implementation of present invention includes a first pillow section (1), at least one height adjustment unit (2), a pedestal (3) and a second pillow section (4). The second pillow section (4) is placed above pedestal (3), adjacent to a height adjustment unit (2). The height of both sides of the second pillow section (4) is lower than the lowest side of the first pillow section (I). There are a third pillow section (5) and another height adjustment unit (2) that connects the third pillow section (5) and the pedestal (3), and adjacent to the third pillow section (5).

With a combination of the above components, as shown in FIGS. 2, 17 through 22, the sixth example of implementation of present invention provides more adjustment styles. For example, users can manipulate any of the height adjustment unit (2) located on either side of the second pillow section (4) or in the second shell (222) to obtain height that appropriately fits their sleeping position (e.g., lateral position with left-side up, normal position, lateral position with right-side up, etc.). In addition, each resting space is available for users to rest their arms at sleep. Thus, the sixth implementation example provides resting spaces (31), and the above-mentioned adjusted height allows users to level and straight their heads with spines. Consequently, it undoubtedly can also achieve the purpose of enhancing user's quality of sleep.

Although the present invention has been described in detail by the above examples of implementation, the purpose of these descriptions is to provide a better understanding and familiarity of the present invention. They are not to limit the scope of the present invention. Therefore, any variation and modification based on the concept, shape and structural characteristics of this invention is covered by the applied patent application of the present invention.
