Description:

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/103,455 for this invention was filed on Oct. 7, 2008 for which the inventor claims domestic priority.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a system and method for playing games of pleasure, and more particularly to a system and method for a table card game.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Generally, casinos provide a variety of games on which gamblers may wager. The more popular games include Blackjack, Poker and its variations, Keno, Baccarat, Roulette, and Craps. Despite the familiarity of these games, gamblers, particularly the regulars, frequently tire of playing the same old games. As a result, gamblers may tend to become disinterested or gamble less.

Accordingly, casinos are frequently looking for new games to offer to clientele. New games should be easy to understand, interesting, and allow for a high rate of card play for both regular gamblers and the average person. One particular concern for casinos is that the average person on vacation may or may not have a familiarity with many of the wagering games. This average person is likely to be unwilling to sit down for an extended period of time to learn a new game. The average person may be more interested in the social interaction that comes with casino gambling and the possibility of winning.

Therefore a card game which offers both ease of understanding of the rules of play and the calculation of the winning hand, is disclosed.

FIG. 7 is a display of how the cards could be arraigned to win if the bonus had been played.

FIG. 8 is a display of how the cards could be arraigned to win if the bonus had not been played.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The disclosed card game is played with a standard 52 card deck, although for convenience of shuffling, additional decks may be used. The cards are dealt in rows of cards. The variation of the game being played determines the number of rows of cards, and therefore the number of cards in play. The cards may be arraigned between rows to achieve the highest score. The winning hand when the bonus is not played is based upon the point total of the hand, using the number in the ones column and discarding the number in the tens column. The winning hands when the bonus is played are based upon a similar winning hand determination as made in the traditional poker card game. The determination of which player is dealt the first hand drawn can be through the use of a drawing of cards wherein the player dealt the highest card is dealt the first hand, a rolling of dice, or an automatic choosing means. Cards such as the 10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings all count as 10 points in the scoring of the game, and these cards are not used in counting the score of the hand, as the numeral in the ones column is a zero. The Ace counts as a 1 in determining the hand value. When a row has points that add to 10 points, the row is useless and therefore not counted, as the numeral in the ones column is a zero. This hand is called a “bu” pronounced “boo.” FIG. 5 shows one card combination that can result in a bu. The bonus would have the odds determined by the house, and can also be played with the rules of the game.

In Three Card Point BaiCao, one row of three cards is dealt. The winning hand is determined by the point value of the cards held by the player, where a higher value beats a lower value, such that a nine is the highest value and a one is the lowest. The winner of the bonus, if played, is determined in the following order: Royal Flush, Straight Flush, 3 of a Kind, Flush, Straight, 2 of a Kind, and 2 to 1 points. Should two or more players receive the same number of points, a “push” will be called. Should two players have the same pair of cards, then the winning player shall be determined through the use of a “kicker” card, which is the higher of the non-pair cards held by the involved players. In FIG. 6 the players each have a pair of sixes so the winner is determined by the kicker card. In this illustrative hand, the five card and the three card are the kickers, and the player holding the five will win the hand.

In Four Card Point BaiCao one row of one card is dealt, and one row of three cards is dealt. The first row of cards must have a lower or equal point count than the second row of cards. If two or more players have the same number of points in each of the two rows, a player can call a push. In a push situation, if players have the same number of points in the top row, then the point total in the bottom row will decide the winner, if the players have the same number of points in the bottom row, then the point total in the top row will decide the winner. If players are tied for points in the top row and have the same pair in the bottom row, then the winner is decided by the bottom row kicker. If the players have the same kicker, then push will be called. The winning hand is determined by the point value of the cards held by the player, where a higher value beats a lower value, such that a nine is the highest value and a one is the lowest. The winner of the bonus, if played, is determined in the following order: four card Royal Flush, four card Straight Flush, 4 of a Kind, three card Royal Flush, three card Straight Flush, 3 of a Kind, Flush, Straight, 2 of a Kind, and 9 to 1 points. Should two or more players receive the same number of points, a push will be called. For a bu to occur in this version of the game, the bu must be in the first or top row of cards.

In Five Card Point BaiCao one row of two cards is dealt, and one row of three cards is dealt. The first row of cards must have a lower or equal point count as the second row of cards.

If two players have the same number of points in each of the two rows, a player can call a push. The winner of the bonus, if played, is determined in the following order: five card Royal Flush, five card Straight Flush, 4 of a Kind, Full House, three card Royal Flush, three card Straight Flush, 3 of a Kind, Two Pair, Two of a Kind, and 9 to 1 points. Should two or more players receive the same number of points, a push will be called. For a bu to occur in this version of the game, the bu must be in the first or top row of cards.

In Six Card Point BaiCao two rows of three cards are dealt. The first row of cards must have a lower or equal point count as the second row of cards. If two players have the same number of points in each of the two rows, a player can call push. In a push situation, if players have the same number of points in the top row, then the point total in the bottom row will decide the winner, if the players have the same number of points in the bottom row, then the point total in the top row will decide the winner. The winning hand is determined by the point value of the cards held by the player, where a higher value beats a lower value, such that a nine is the highest value and a one is the lowest. The winner of the bonus, if played, is determined in the following order: six card Royal Flush, six card Straight Flush, 4 of a Kind, three card Royal Flush, three card Straight Flush, 3 of a Kind, and 9 to 1 points. Should two or more players receive the same number of points, a push will be called. For a bu to occur in this version of the game, the bu must be in the first or top row of cards.

As can be seen in FIGS. 7 and 8, the cards would be arraigned differently in a situation when the bonus had been bet from one where the bonus had not been bet. FIG. 7 has a three card Straight Flush in the bottom row of cards, and thus the only hands that would beat this hand would be the six card Royal Flush, six card Straight Flush, 4 of a Kind, and three card Royal Flush. In FIG. 8 where the cards are shown as they would be placed had the bonus not been bet, the points total eight points in the top row and nine points in the bottom row.

While the above is a description of various embodiments of the present point BaiCao card game suitable for casino play, further modifications may be employed without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. Thus the scope of the invention should not be limited according to these factors, but according to the appended claims.
