Claims:
What is claimed is:

1. A ball surface structure comprising: multiple primary bosses each having a conical recess defined in an outer periphery of the primary boss so as to increase surface friction with a ground surface.

2. The ball surface structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein secondary bosses are formed on the outer surface of each of the primary bosses.

3. The ball surface structure as claimed in claim 2, wherein the secondary bosses are annularly formed on the outer periphery of each of the primary bosses.

4. A ball surface structure comprising: multiple primary bosses each having multiple secondary bosses formed on an outer periphery of the primary boss and arranged in an annular format.

5. The ball surface structure as claimed in claim 4, wherein each primary boss has a conical recess defined in the outer periphery of the primary boss.

6. The ball surface structure as claimed in claim 5, wherein each of the secondary bosses is integrally formed with one another so as to form an annular ring on the outer periphery of the primary bosses.

Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a ball surface structure, and more particularly to a ball surface having multiple primary bosses formed on the ball surface, multiple secondary bosses formed on each of the primary bosses and a conical recess defined in each of the primary bosses.

2. Description of Related Art

Balls in different sport occasions may have bosses formed on a ball surface. The reason the ball player is able to precisely control the movement direction of the ball depends on the formation of the bosses on the ball surface. That is, when the ball touches the ground surface, the gaps between the bosses and sandwiched between the ball surface and the ground surface create a suction effect to the ball to hold the ball for a longer period of time just before the ball bounces. During the prolonged time period, the ball player is able to have a precise control of the ball. However, to those balls that do not have any bosses formed on the ball surface, the effect from the bosses is not visible and so that the ball player may not be able to have a good control of the ball or maybe the control of the ball is not so important. Still, even though most balls do have bosses on the ball surface, the balls still become slippery on rainy days. The water stays in the gaps between the bosses on the ball surface, so that when the ball is wet, the ball player is not able to control the ball precisely. Furthermore, when the ball player dribbles on a watery ground surface, the ball bouncing direction may not be the same as expected due to the water between the ground surface and the ball surface.

To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to provide an improved ball surface structure to mitigate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a ball surface structure having multiple primary bosses on the ball surface and multiple secondary bosses on each of the primary bosses to increase engagement area with the ground surface.

In one aspect of the present invention, a conical recess is defined in each of the primary bosses such that a suction effect is created when the ball surface engages with the ground surface to enable the ball player to have a precise control of the ball when the ball bounces.

In yet another aspect of the present invention, an annular ring is formed on each of the primary boss to increase the engagement area with the ground surface.

Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference to FIG. 1, it is noted that a ball in accordance with the present invention is shown. The ball has multiple primary bosses (1) formed on the ball surface to increase friction with the ground surface when the ball bounces.

With reference to FIG. 2 to provide a better look at the structure of the bosses (1) on the ball surface, it is noted that each primary boss (1) has multiple secondary bosses (2) formed on an outer surface of the primary boss (1).

With reference to FIGS. 3 to 6, it is noted that the structure of the primary boss includes a conical recess (11) defined in the outer periphery of the primary boss (1). Each primary boss (1) has, in addition to the conical recess (11), multiple secondary bosses (2) on the outer periphery of the primary boss (1). Furthermore, each primary boss (1) may have multiple secondary bosses (2) formed on the outer periphery of the primary boss (1) in an annular format, as shown in FIG. 5, or an annular ring (3) formed on the outer periphery of the primary boss (1) when the secondary bosses (2) are integrally formed with one another.

It is noted that no matter it is the secondary bosses (2), the conical recess or the annular ring (3), the joint purposes of the ball surface structure of the present invention is to increase the surface friction when the ball engages with the ground surface and to facilitate the expelling of water when the ball is used in wet days.
