Claims:
1. A locking device for a toolbox comprising: a base portion having a platform formed in a predetermined shape, on which at least a recess defined, at the outer periphery of the platform where adjacent to the recess formed with a predetermined number of holes, at the outer periphery of the base portion defined with a predetermined number of arresting pieces; a cover being same size as the base portion, which provided with plural openings with corresponding to the holes of the base portion both in location and size, with corresponding to the outside of the respective arresting pieces of the base portion the cover further provided with equal number of master jaws; a plurality of locking members, each of which including two protruded ends and a rod portion, both of the protruded ends serving for engaging in the holes of the base portion and the openings of the cover respectively.

2. The locking device for a toolbox as claimed in claim 1, wherein a plate can be provided at a side of the cover where neighboring to the side that is for locking with the base portion, the plate is formed with an aperture at a predetermined position and serves to engage with a protrusion that formed at a corresponding position of the base portion.

Description:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a locking device for a toolbox, and more particularly to a device which is capable of preventing an unanticipated open of the tool box.

2. Description of the Prior Arts

A toolbox is employed to collect and classify tools. However, a conventional toolbox has some disadvantages need to be improved as follows:

First, with reference to FIG. 1, a conventional locking device for a toolbox generally comprises a base portion 10 and a cover 11. Wherein at top portion of the base portion 10 is defined with a platform 101, and on the platform 101 is defined with a recess 102 having a right size for receipt of tools. The base portion 10 has two arresting pieces 103 defined at the outer periphery thereof, while the cover 11 is provided with equal number of master jaws 111 with corresponding to the positions of the respective arresting pieces 103 of the base portion 10. The arresting pieces 103 of the base portion 10 serve to engage with the corresponding master jaws 111 of the cover respectively. This kind of conventional locking device has been commonly used in a wide range, however, since the cover 11 and the base portion 10 of which are closed and locked only by virtue of the engagement between the master jaws 111 and the arresting pieces 103, which is unable to prevent unanticipated open of the toolbox in case of fall or collision.

The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional locking device for a toolbox.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional toolbox;

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a toolbox of the present invention;

FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view of the toolbox of the present invention;

FIG. 4 is a partial perspective view of a toolbox in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIG. 2, a looking device of a toolbox in accordance with the present invention generally comprises a base portion 20, a cover 30 and three locking members 40.

The base portion 20 is configured in a predetermined shape and provided at the top portion with a platform 21 which has a recess 211 defined therein. At the outer periphery of the platform 21 where adjacent to the recess 211 three holes 212 are formed thereof respectively. Furthermore, two arresting pieces 22 are defined at the outer periphery of the base portion 20.

The cover 30 is same size as the base portion 20 and provided with three openings 31 located corresponding to the position of holes 212 of the base portion 20, each opening 31 is same size as the holes 212. The cover 30 is provided with equal number of master jaws 32 where corresponding to the outside of the respective arresting pieces 22 of the base portion 20.

Each locking member 40 includes two protruded ends 41 and a rod portion 42. Both of the protruded ends 41 serve for engaging in the holes 212 of the base portion 20 and the openings 31 of the cover 30 respectively, such that the base portion 20 and cover 30 are combined with each other closely.

Referring to FIG. 3, in which, a tool is received in the recess 211 of the base portion 20 (the size of the tool to be received is limited by that of the recess 211). The two protruded ends 41 of the locking member 40 are engaged in the holes 212 of the base portion 20 and the openings 31 of the cover 30 respectively, and take this as the first preventive. And then the master jaws 32 of the cover 30 are engaged with the arresting pieces 22 of the base portion 20 respectively, such that prevents an unanticipated unlock of the base portion 20 from the cover 30 in case of collision or fall of the toolbox.

Referring to FIG. 4, wherein the locking device of the present invention further can be provided with a plate 33 at a side of the cover 30 where neighboring the side which for locking with the base portion 20, which is formed with an aperture 331 at a predetermined position and serves to engage with a protrusion 23 which formed at a corresponding position of the base portion 20.
