Lewis Greenberg, MD, MHA, is vice president of physician
integration at Baptist Health System in Texas. Greenberg's primary
focus will be the development and implementation of clinical integration
(CI) as a hospital-physician alignment strategy in preparation to be an
accountable care organization. This involves identifying current
organizational strengths and gaps in regard to CI readiness, educating
leadership and physicians about the CI value proposition, and assembling
physician-directed committees to select clinical initiatives, IT
technologies and performance management strategies for the new CI
organization. Prior to joining BHS, Greenberg served as vice president
of operations for Southwind Health Partners (a division of The Advisory
Board) where he focused on optimizing the performance of the physician
enterprise. Greenberg has also served in clinical and organizational
leadership positions at leading integrated health systems, including the
University of Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine in San
Antonio, the Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania and the CHRISTUS
Health System in Texas. Greenberg earned his undergraduate degree from
the University of California, San Diego, and his MD from the Baylor
College of Medicine in Houston. He earned his MHA from the University of
Colorado College of Business, Executive Program in Health
