Provided is a zoom lens in which a lens system has a shortened full length with respect to a zoom ratio, while keeping an excellent optical performance.
The zoom lens includes, in the order from an object side, a first lens group (G1), which is positive, a second lens group (G2), which is negative, a third lens group (G3), which is negative, and a fourth lens group (G4), which is positive. Upon zooming from a wide angle end to a telephoto end, the first lens group(G1) and the fourth lens group (G4) are fixed, the third lens group (G3) monotonously moves from the object side to the image side, and the second lens group (G2) moves so as to correct fluctuations in the image plane that occur in the zooming. When amounts of movements of the second lens group (G2) and the third lens group (G3) upon zooming from the wide angle end to the telephoto end are assumed to be M2 and M3, respectively, the condition expression (1) shown below is satisfied:
