The invention relates to a mechanical weaving loom comprising an expander device (12) arranged downstream of a weaving point (10) for the web of endless fabric (16) to be produced. Said expander device comprises a deviating edge (14) for the web of endless fabric (16), against which a freely rotatable round rod (18) is pre-stressed over the entire width of the web of endless fabric in a floating manner. In order to simplify and to improve the accessibility, the round rod (18) at least partially consists of a ferromagnetic material, and is pre-stressed against the deviating edge (14) by means of magnets (20) which are distributed over the length of said rod, on the frame (24) of the loom.
