Description:

The utility model is a bed insert equipped with air-mattress by means of which a lying or if necessary sitting piece of furniture can be created with adjustable rigidity and the condition of which is kept also after being used for a long period.

The main characteristic of the mattresses is the lying surface ensured for the person using it. The lying surface - depending on the type of the load-bearing construction - can have different springiness and rigidity as required by the user. According to the actual state of technology there are several different solutions regarding the inner load-bearing construction of beds.

The use of the interior-sprung mattress as a lying surface of beds can be regarded as a conventional solution. The disadvantage of this solution is that the springing formed in this way loses its springiness because of the long-time usage and also on the surfaces with more loading the end-result will be concaving.

The other widespread solution is the coverage of the lying surface with a thick coat of foam. The disadvantage of this solution is that the foam becomes age-worn and porous, and the springiness of this mattress type also will be reduced on the much used parts. The further disadvantage of both of the foam coat and that of the interior-sprung mattress is that their springiness can not be adjusted as required by the user.

According to the actual state of technology a well-known solution for lying surfaces is the water-bed, in the case of which the lying as well as load-bearing surface of the bed is solved by means of a flexible tank filled with water. This type of solution is published also in the publication document PCT No. WO 89/12414. The springiness of the water-bed can be set by adjusting the water pressure of the tank. The disadvantages of the water-bed is temperature stability and the inhibition of currents in the tank have to be solved, and the long usage of this type of mattress can be damaging to health.

The description of patent No. US 5 170 522 and FR 73.08729 introduces a bed which was produced using an air-mattress. Its drawback is that it is a complex and intricate structure. The air-mattress, used in this type of bed, does not make possible the universal and bed-independent usage.

In the case of our construction, according to the utility model, our aim was not only to eliminate the drawbacks and deficiencies of the solutions already mentioned but also to make a mattress, which can be widely utilised for the production of lying surfaces and beds, as well as, if necessary, the springiness and rigidity of the lying surface can be changed in the same mattress according to the requirements of the user.

During the creation of this model we recognised that the appointed purpose can be reached if the bed insert contains one or more double air sealing, cells divided air-mattress(es), which surrounded by foam stiffeners, and above the air mattress(es) there is an upper foam layer, and the bed insert is fitted with a practical outer cover as well.

The utility model is a bed insert equipped with an air-mattress and this bed insert has a load-bearing structure built-up by the use of one or more air-mattress(es). The bed insert contains double air sealing, cells divided air mattress(es), which surrounded by lateral foam stiffeners, and above the air-mattress(es) there is an upper foam layer, and the bed insert is supplied with an outer cover.

The preferred embodiment of the bed insert when between the air-mattresses there is a middle foam stiffener, and on the bottom of the bed insert a lower foam layer is to be found. The inner side of the lateral foam stiffeners are arched-shaped and they are equipped with cross ribs, and the horizontal size of the lateral foam stiffeners has to be at least 8 cm.

The utility model is described hereafter by the help of the attached figures:

  • The figure 1. shows the segment of a possible structural design of the bed insert according to the model.
  • The figure 2. shows the perspective drawing of a preferred inner design of the bed insert according to the model.

The bed insert according to the model to be seen in figure 1. shows the segment of a possible structural design. The figure 1. shows the air-layers (1) which are surrounded by the lateral foam stiffeners (2), and between them there is a middle foam stiffener (3). Above the air-mattresses (1) there is the upper foam layer (4), and under them there is a bottom foam layer (5). The bed insert designed in this way is fitted with an outer cover (6).

The bed insert to be seen in the figure 1. includes two air-mattresses (1) in an asymmetrical lay-out, the mattress, to be found on the left side, is narrower and the right one is broader. The lay-out has different rigidity on the left and right side, and the result of this is a dynamic type lying surface.

The figure 2 shows the perspective drawing of the inner design of the utility model. In this figure, the air-mattresses (1) to be seen are surrounded by lateral foam stiffeners (2), and between them there is a middle foam stiffener (3). Under the air-mattresses (1) there is a bottom foam layer (5), above them there is an upper foam layer (4), which can be seen in section. The outer cover (6) of the bed insert is to be seen also in section.

When lying on the mattress, the air-mattresses (1) will be squeezed in a mainly lateral direction, so it is important to assure the expansion possibility in a lateral direction. This can be achieved by the appropriate formation of the inner side of the lateral foam stiffeners (2), which makes possible the displacement in a lateral direction by means of the appropriate design of the inner side.

One of the designs of the model bed insert has the following sizes: the width of the lateral foam stiffeners (2) is 8....20 cm, the thickness of the upper foam layer (4) is 0.5....10 cm. The whole thickness of the bed insert is 15....25 cm. It is possible to apply air-mattresses on the two sides of the bed having different thickness, as this type of design makes possible the formation of a lying surface with an asymmetrical shape, different springiness and rigidity.

For the adjustment of the rigidity of the air-mattresses (1), the air inlet to the air-mattresses (1) is solved by a filling tube built into the bed insert. The other solution is when there is slot made in the mattress which makes access possible to the filling opening of the air-mattress (1) and which can be opened and closed by the well-known methods, for example by Velcro, zip fastener, press studs. The air-mattresses (1) used in the model bed insert are treated with ageing retarder and they are advantageously perfumed.

The mattress, in the case of a concrete formation, can be used for making a sitting surface. In this case, in an appropriate way, the air-mattress (1) has to be used in the required size.

The advantage of the design of the model is that by means of this solution the bed insert has adjustable rigidity, and in a special case, the rigidity of the bed insert can be dissimilar in different parts of the lying surface. The springiness of the bed insert will not change during its usage period, and there is no concaving on the surface even after a long time of usage because of the property of the air-mattress. Further advantage is that it can be widely applied, as well as the bed can be shaped depending on different requirements.
