The invention relates to an oven with a heat keeping compartment, the heat keeping compartment being removable from the oven and insertable again. According to the invention the heat keeping compartment (6) is situated in the oven (1) beneath the oven muffle. It is connected to a fan supplying hot air and to a heat source. The fan and the heat source can be switched on selectively. The heat keeping compartment is for, e.g., letting leavened dough rise or for the production of yoghurt, thawing of deep-frozen food, or germinating cereals for health food.
