Invalid bib

An invalid bib which may be readily draped about a person, that is formed of a continuous length of material and held in place, when worn, without the requirement attachment straps. The bib is formed of toweling material with pile surfaces and is shaped to fit about the neck and front of an individual. Snaps are located in the shaped neck section of the bib so that the neck section may be folded upon itself and held in place, so that the bib, when worn, gives the appearance of a scarf.

Claims:
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desired to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is
1. A bib which may be worn as a scarf, formed of absorbent piled material, said bib being of a rectangular shape with a concave curved shape formed along one edge of the mid-section of the material, said mid-section being fitted with two mating snap fasteners located a distance apart from each other and at a distance from the edges of the material on a line perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the material, so that when said fasteners are fastened together, a continuous pleat is formed in the bib in the mid-section, said pleat permitting the bib, when worn, to hang naturally about the back of the neck and to completely cover the front of the wearer.
2. The combination as recited in claim 1 with the mating snap fasteners fastened together to form a longitudinal pleat in the mid-section of the material.

A bib which may be worn as a scarf, formed of absorbent piled material, said bib being of a rectangular shape with a concave curved shape formed along one edge of the mid-section of the material, said mid-section being fitted with two mating snap fasteners located a distance apart from each other and at a distance from the edges of the material on a line perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the material, so that when said fasteners are fastened together, a continuous pleat is formed in the bib in the mid-section, said pleat permitting the bib, when worn, to hang naturally about the back of the neck and to completely cover the front of the wearer.
2. The combination as recited in claim 1 with the mating snap fasteners fastened together to form a longitudinal pleat in the mid-section of the material.
Description:
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
My invention relates to a bib which may be conveniently worn to protect the clothing of an invalid, and particularly to a bib which eliminates the need for attachment straps.
The bib of my invention is in the form of a continuous length of toweling material which is recessed along one edge in the mid section of the material to fit about the neck of the wearer. Snaps are placed in the neck section to hold the neck section of the bib folded upon itself so that the end sections of the bib naturally form about the front of the wearer. The piled surfaces of the material act to fasten adjacent edges together without the need of attachment straps.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Turning now descriptively to the drawings, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIG. 2 illustrates the bib 10 worn as a scarf about the wearer 20, with the neck section 15 formed with a pleat 21 so that the tail sections 23 of the bib 10 hang naturally about the front of the wearer 20. The bib 10 is made of a toweling material formed with exterior pile surfaces 11 so that adjacent edges 27 of the tail section 23 cling together, when worn to obviate the need for attachment straps.
As shown in FIG. 1, one edge 19 of the mid-section 30 of the bib 10 is formed in the shape of a concave curve. Two mating snap fasteners 16 and 17 respectively are located a distance apart from each other along a line perpendicular to the axis of the bib in the mid-section 30 so that the mid-section may be pleated as shown in FIG. 3, when worn, with snap fasteners 16 and 17 holding the folds in place.
The ends 12 of both tail sections 23 are formed with a decorative fringe to add to the pleasing appearance of the bib 10, when worn, so as to encourage its use.
The longitudinal edges 27 of the bib 10 may be formed in a continuous seam as shown in FIG. 4.
When laundering, snaps 16 and 17 are unfastened so that the bib 10 may be laundered as simply as a towel.
Since obvious changes may be made in the specific embodiment of the invention described herein, such modifications being within the spirit and scope of the invention claimed, it is indicated that all matter contained herein is intended as illustrative and not as limiting in scope.
