Claims:
I claim
1. A hot/cold receptacle of plastic material for use around the area of the eyes of the user and having an open area whereby no part of the receptacle touches the nose, comprising elongated upper and lower walls of preformed shape heat sealed together along the side edges of said walls, said walls being heat sealed together transversely to the long axis of said receptacle and medially of its ends to form a pair of separate end-to-end compartments, said upper wall being shorter in length than the length of the lower wall and the ends of said shorter wall extending inwardly of the ends of the longer wall whereby to form a filler opening in each end, a neck portion on the free ends of said receptacle, the side edges of said neck portions tapered inwardly towards said respective compartments, and an elongated tie strip secured medially to the free ends of said lower wall, with the free ends thereof extending laterally outwardly of the edges of said neck.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein the necks are folded over upon themselves several times to fully wrap the tie strips therewithin and close said openings, the free ends of said tie strips each being bent back over the folds to secure the folds in their folded condition and seal the filler openings.

A hot/cold receptacle of plastic material for use around the area of the eyes of the user and having an open area whereby no part of the receptacle touches the nose, comprising elongated upper and lower walls of preformed shape heat sealed together along the side edges of said walls, said walls being heat sealed together transversely to the long axis of said receptacle and medially of its ends to form a pair of separate end-to-end compartments, said upper wall being shorter in length than the length of the lower wall and the ends of said shorter wall extending inwardly of the ends of the longer wall whereby to form a filler opening in each end, a neck portion on the free ends of said receptacle, the side edges of said neck portions tapered inwardly towards said respective compartments, and an elongated tie strip secured medially to the free ends of said lower wall, with the free ends thereof extending laterally outwardly of the edges of said neck.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein the necks are folded over upon themselves several times to fully wrap the tie strips therewithin and close said openings, the free ends of said tie strips each being bent back over the folds to secure the folds in their folded condition and seal the filler openings.
Description:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
After an operation on the nasal bones or the nasal septum, usually there is considerably swelling of the facial areas around the nose and forehead and the eye area normally has an ecchoymosis of the tissue commonly called a black eye. Applications of cold water or ice packs are normally employed to reduce swelling but the nose is normally so tender it was almost impossible to do so. When the bones of the nose have been broken, no pressure of any kind can be exerted thereon because it will change the shape of the nose. It was to overcome this defect that the present invention was conceived.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
A substantially rectangular, two-ply, one-time use, throw-away receptacle having two separate sealed compartments positioned end-to-end, with a cutaway area therein, and having neck areas on each free end with a filler opening adjacent each end spaced below and adjacent the free end of the neck, and an elongated, stiffened, flexible tie strip secured to each of said free ends each adapted to fold over upon itself several turns to close the necks and the filler openings, and distal ends of said tie strip adapted to fold over the rolled up portion and close the openings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The bag of the present invention is produced by placing two flat sheets of rectangular-shaped, flexible plastic material, preferably polyvinyl chloride, and heat or electronically sealing them together as at 10 along the side edges in the preformed pattern shown in FIG. 3. The rear wall 12 is longer than the front wall 14, as clearly shown in FIG. 4. A vertical seam is located medially of the ends of the sheets as at 16 to form two separate leak-proof compartments or pouches A and B with the free ends of the front wall 14 being unsealed to form openings 18-20 so as to receive ice, shaved or cubes, and/or hot or cold water, as desired. The necks C are preformed on the free ends of the upper and lower walls and have communication with the interior of the two pouches A and B, respectively. The side edges of the neck are tapered inwardly towards the pouch.
The lower medial portion of the bag is preformed to form an opening 22 of a size and shape such that when the bag is applied to the area around the eyes of the user, adequate spacing is provided whereby the nose of the user is not contacted by any part of the bag, including the edges 21 forming the sides of the opening 22.
Plastic tie strips 24 are heat sealed on the terminal ends of the wall 12 and contain a pair of spaced wires 26 heat sealed to the plastic member 28 as at 30 to form a relatively stiff yet flexible tie strip. The free ends of the tie strips extend outwardly beyond the side edges of the neck, as clearly seen in FIG. 3.
The tie strips 24 are tightly folded back upon themselves over the tapered neck portions about six or seven times inwardly towards the enlarged portions 28 of the containers A and B, respectively, and the free ends of the tie strips are then bent back inwardly over and upon the folds 32 to secure the folds. Thus the openings 18-20 will be closed tightly to prevent leakage by the folding over process. The folds are clearly shown in FIG. 5.
Although the device of the present invention is primarily designed for use as described above, it should be obvious that the device may be used around the throat area after a tonsillectomy, around the scrotum after surgery, or any other place where a small area need be treated, such as around the ears.
Although but one specific embodiment of this invention is herein shown and described, it will be understood that details of the construction shown may be altered or omitted without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined by the following claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The bag of the present invention is produced by placing two flat sheets of rectangular-shaped, flexible plastic material, preferably polyvinyl chloride, and heat or electronically sealing them together as at 10 along the side edges in the preformed pattern shown in FIG. 3. The tie strips 24 are tightly folded back upon themselves over the tapered neck portions about six or seven times inwardly towards the enlarged portions 28 of the containers A and B, respectively, and the free ends of the tie strips are then bent back inwardly over and upon the folds 32 to secure the folds. Thus the openings 18-20 will be closed tightly to prevent leakage by the folding over process. The folds are clearly shown in FIG. 5.
Although the device of the present invention is primarily designed for use as described above, it should be obvious that the device may be used around the throat area after a tonsillectomy, around the scrotum after surgery, or any other place where a small area need be treated, such as around the ears.
