Claims:
What is claimed is

1. A container for mosquito coils comprising:

2. A can for mosquito coils as claimed in claim 1, wherein the top lid holds an internal wire screen to support a mosquito coil, with said screen resting on the step in the side wall of said top lid.

3. A can for mosquito coils as claimed in claim 2, wherein said screen has a mesh, the openings in which are in the range of 0.3 - 6.0 mm on a side, and is made of wire which has been resin-treated for resistance to heat.

4. A container as claimed in claim 6 in which the first and second sections of each lid are connected by a step and the step of said upper lid rests on the upper edge of said body when said lids are positioned to form a fumigator.

Description:
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a can for holding coils of a material which, when burnt, produces fumes for killing mosquitoes, and particularly to a can which can serve as a fumigator in which the coil is burnt when an inner lid and top lid are mounted on the body of the can.

Various types of fumigators for burning mosquito coils have been devised and are in widespread use, but nothing has been available which was adapted to be used both for storage and fumigation. Thus, it often happens that when the can has been put away somewhere and forgotten about, a search must be made for the can when a mosquito coil is to be burned. It goes without saying that it is most desirable that the storage can and the fumigator be integrated as a combined unit, but the problem has been how to design it compactly and how to make it convenient for use.

The present invention is a successful solution to the above-mentioned problem. The first object of the present invention is to provide a most convenient can for mosquito coils by combining a storage can with a fumigator.

A second object of the present invention is to provide a fumigator for burning a mosquito coil which comprises both the inner lid and top lid of the can in which said coil is stored.

A third object of the present invention is to provide a combination of an inner lid and a top lid of a can for storing mosquito coils in which the upper surface of the inner lid is provided with windows to release the fumes from a burning coil, the top lid supporting an inner wire screen and both the lids having mating stepped portions which permit them to engage and fit each other.

A fourth object of the present invention is to provide a fumigator for mosquito coils which comprises a top lid and an inner lid, said fumigator being adapted to be fitted and held on the open edge of a can for storing mosquito coils.

Several other objects of the present invention will become apparent from a reading of the following description of a preferred embodiment of the present invention, with reference to the attached drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a can for mosquito coils according to the present invention, with a portion of the top lid cut away;

FIG. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same embodiment; and

FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing the device in use as a fumigator, with the can body in phantom lines and part of the inner lid broken away.

In FIG. 1, the storage can B for mosquito coils comprises the can body 1, the inner lid 2 and the top lid 3. The can body is spacious enough to hold several mosquito coils.

The inner and outer walls of the inner lid 2 are provided with a step 4 which engages the upper edge of the can 1 and the lower edge of the top lid 3 when the can is closed as shown in FIG. 2. The upper surface of said internal lid 2 has windows 5, 5 for releasing the fumes from a burning coil. The outside and inside walls of the top lid 3 are also provided with a step 6 which rests on the top of the internal lid 2 when the can is closed and on the open edge of the can 1 when in the FIG. 3 position. Inside the top cover 3 is a screen 7 made of wire or glass and treated with resin for resistance to heat. This screen is supported by the step 6 and prevented from getting outside by being crimped at 8 over the edge of the top lid. Needless to say, the top lid 3 is designed with enough inside volume to accommodate a mosquito coil when it is serving as a fumigator.

It would be desirable to keep the mesh size of the wire screen within the range of 0.3 - 6.0 mm. If it were less than 0.3 mm, it would be difficult to drop the ashes through it after fumigation, but if it were more than 6.0 mm, the coil when shortened by burning, would slip through the mesh.

As indicated in FIG. 2, the top lid 3 is placed over the inner lid and then the inner lid 2 is seated on the open edge of the can 1.

The can 1, which holds mosquito coils, will be exhibited for sale at the store or will serve for storage of mosquito coils at home. FIG. 3 shows a mosquito coil being burned in a fumigator according to this invention. In this position the top lid 3 is mounted on the can body with its bottom side up, and an ignited mosquito coil is placed on the wire screen 7. Then the inner lid 2 is seated on the edge of the top lid 3 (in this case serving as a fumigator), and acts as a shield against the wind. Naturally, the fumes from a burning coil escape through the windows 5 and spread outside. While a combination of only the top lid 3 and the inner lid 2 may be used for fumigation, integration of the three units, i.e., the top lid, the inner lid, and the can body 1, with the top lid 3 sitting on the open edge of the can 1, effectively insulates the surface on which it rests from the hot lid 2.

As described above, the present invention permits dual service of the can 1 originally intended for storage of mosquito coils by adding an inner lid 2 to the can 1 already equipped with a top lid 3, thereby improving the effectiveness of anti-mosquito fumigation, simplifying the manufacture structurally, and assuring high safety in use, because the mosquito coil C is burned on the wire-net 7.

It should be noted that, in the illustrated embodiment, the can body 1, the inner lid 2, and the top lid 3 are circular in shape, but of course they may be rectangular or of any other shape with absolutely the same effect produced.
