Description:
The present invention relates to a detonation producing ammunition comprising a detonation body ignitable in a discharging cup by means of an electric ignition.
Such discharging cup equipped with detonation bodies are as a rule coordinated in form of a plurality jointly to a cannon firing demonstrating device, which in turn is secured to the barrel of a tank-vehicle. The electric ignition of the detonation body is arranged such, that it can be released from the inside of the vehicle by the crew in any succession. With these detonation bodies ignitable, individually or in any succession the firing or striking of live bullets or shells is to be initiated, whereby in addition to the detonation also a false fire and smoke formation is supposed to appear in reality.
The drawbacks occuring hereby previously reside first of all in the fact, that after the firing of a detonation body, residues remaining in the discharging cup created by fragments of the damping and the detonation body sleeve, which residues require a removal after each shot.
It is to be added, that by chemical and physical influences of the material created during firing of the detonation body, the inside of the discharging cup is attacked and the life of the latter is impaired.
Finally the detonation bodies are secured in view of the removability insufficiently only in the discharging cup, so that during travel through the countryside, they are subjected to continuous jolts.
It is one object of the present invention, to provide a detonation producing ammunition, wherein the drawbacks of the known devices are omitted.
It is another object of the present invention, to provide a detonation producing ammunition, wherein a detonation demonstrating ammunition is created in the form of a detonation or bang body ignitable in a discharging cup, which detonation excludes the soiling and the premature wear of the discharging cup and which, in spite of its easy removability from the firing bucket, is secured therein free of jolts.
It is yet another object of the present invention, to provide a detonation producing ammunition, which comprises a bucket-shaped container of synthetic material receiving jolt-free and closeable a detonation body, which container is secured relative to the detonation body and the discharging cup surrounding the body such, that it forms during and after the firing of the detonation body a lining protecting the discharging cup and remaining unharmed, which lining is easily removable therefrom.
It is still another object of the present invention, to provide a detonation-producing ammunition, which comprises a container of synthetic material which surrounds, on the one hand, the detonation body, with an over dimension, and which has, on the other hand, in a shaft, only so much play towards the discharging cup, that it is secured against clamping as well as can expand in the firing bucket to such extent, that the breaking limit of the material chosen for the bucket of synthetic material, as, for instance, polyethylene or soft polyvinyl chloride, is not surpassed.
The securing of the container of synthetic material against the discharging cup takes place by means of a thin lip, which extends, throughout or with interruptions, over the periphery of the container of synthetic material and which projects, in its non-influenced state, beyond the open width of the discharging cup. Upon insertion of the container the lip turns itself over against the discharging cup, whereby not only an improved securing of the container and, thereby, also of the detonation body, particularly in case of over-land travel of the tank vehicle, but also an easy removability of the discharging cup is obtainable, whereby the removability applies to the same extent for the complete ammunition, as well as for the empty bucket of synthetic material. For easier removal, the container of synthetic material is equipped at its end projecting out of the discharging cup with at least one tongue-member. Likewise has the body of the container of synthetic material a plurality of pre-marked breaking points, with which in case of a nonspecified seat of the container, the barrel can break open, but cannot tear off.
The securing of the detonation body in the container of synthetic material takes place on the bottom side by a plurality of radial ribs disposed within the bottom range of the container of synthetic material, while on the headside the detonation body is secured by an intermediate cover sitting in the container of synthetic material, which intermediate cover in turn is equipped at its bottom side with a round stay for reception of the detonation body. The intermediate collar is formed as the bottom of a head space receiving the ignition conduit in addition to the plug, which is closed up by a snap cover.
With these and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention, which is shown by example only, will be clearly understood in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is an axial section of the detonation producing ammunition consisting of a detonation body and a container of synthetic material; and
FIG. 2 is a section of an empty container of synthetic material in the discharging cup at a reduced scale.
Referring now to the drawing, the detonation or bang body 1 or bang producing body comprises substantially a cylinder sleeve 2 with a pyrotechnical set 5 embedded between two damping stoppers 3 and 4. On the bottom of the set 5 an ignition pill 6 is disposed in standing position, on which the ignition conduit 7 is guided at first to the bottom of the detonation body 1, then on the inner wall of the sleeve 2 up to the upper end, where it forms still a spare portion and remains there, equipped there with a plug 7a.
The entire detonation body 1 is inserted into a thin-walled container 8 of synthetic material of bucket shape and diminishing towards the bottom such, that between the cylinder sleeve 2 and the container of synthetic material 8 a comparatively wide annular space 9 is formed for the build-up of a high gas pressure. The upper edge of the container 8 is equipped with an annular flange 10, which serves as engagement of the container 8 relative to the edge of the discharging cup 11. At least one tongue 12 formed as a handle is arranged on the annular flange 10, by means of which the empty container 8 of synthetic material can be pulled out from the discharging cup 11. Below the annular flange 10 is disposed an annular groove 13 at the inner wall of the container 8. Below the annular groove 13 is formed a thin lip 14 at the outer wall of the container 8, which lip 14 extends throughout or with interruptions over the periphery of the container 8 of synthetic material.
In case the container 8 of synthetic material with the detonation body is not to be inserted inadvertently up to the bottom of the discharging cup 11 and thereby during the ignition of the detonation body 1 possibly the bottom of the container 8 could be separated, a pre-marked breaking point 15 is provided in the bottom of the container 8 of synthetic material. By such arrangement it is assured, that the bottom breaks in this case without separation of undesirable fragments. The container surrounds the detonation body with an over measure and has in the shaft towards the discharging cup only so much play, that it is secured against clamping and is expandable to a value not surpassing the breaking expansion of its material.
The means, with which the detonation body 1 is secured in the container 8 of synthetic material jolt-free, comprises, on the one hand, a plurality of radial ribs 16 arranged within the bottom range of the container 8 of synthetic material and, on the other hand, a pulled-in, intermediate cover 17, which not only centers, but also secures with annular stay 18, formed on the underside, the sleeve 2 of the detonation body 1.
The intermediate cover 17, clamped-in the annular groove 13 of the container 8 is equipped with a frame 19 engaging the wall of the container 8, which frame 19 closes up with the upper edge of the container 8 and forms there an annular bead 20. The head space 22 containing the ignition conduit 7 with the plug 7a is maintained closed by means of a snap cover 21.
In case it should be required, instead of one tongue, a second one can be added, as well as a second lip in the lower range of the container 8 of synthetic material. Within the framework of the present invention other variations are possible. Thus, for instance, the detonation body 1 can be equipped instead with an electrical ignition, rather with a mechanical ignition cooperating with a retardation set and the discharging cup can be worked into the ground. Here, in the range close to the soil, the lining or jacket of the discharging cup can be of great value.
While I have disclosed one embodiment of the present invention, it is to be understood that this embodiment is given by example only and not in a limiting sense.
