GLOVE- AND BOOT-DRYING DEVICE

A device for attachment to hair dryers and the like which will serve to dry wet articles, such as boots and gloves. This device includes a swivel-type base upon which is supported a tubular element having a multiple number of openings for the passage of heat from the dryer in order to dry the articles, particularly from the inside.

Claims:
What I now claim is
1. In a glove- and boot-drying device, the combination of a U-shaped pipe that includes a horizontal arm which at its opposite ends is enjoined to the lower ends of a pair of vertically upwardly extending arms, a longitudinal center of said horizontal arm having a pad on the underside thereof that supports a swivel pin, said swivel pin pivotably supporting an elongated base, each of said vertically extending arms having at its lower end a downwardly extending leg, the lower ends of said legs being on a same elevation as a bottom side of said base, a longitudinal central portion of said horizontal arm having a sidewardly extending hollow adapter which communicates with the interior of said horizontal arm, said adapter being adaptable for engagement with one end of a hose, the opposite end of said hose being attached to a hot air source, the interior of said horizontal arm having a deflector for diverting air from said adapter toward both opposite sides of said horizontal arm, and the upper end of each of said vertical arms having an opening therethrough and the upper side portion of each of said vertical arms being provided with additional openings therethrough, each upper end of said vertical arms being adaptable for placement of an inverted boot or glove thereupon so that said hot air can dry out the same.

In a glove- and boot-drying device, the combination of a U-shaped pipe that includes a horizontal arm which at its opposite ends is enjoined to the lower ends of a pair of vertically upwardly extending arms, a longitudinal center of said horizontal arm having a pad on the underside thereof that supports a swivel pin, said swivel pin pivotably supporting an elongated base, each of said vertically extending arms having at its lower end a downwardly extending leg, the lower ends of said legs being on a same elevation as a bottom side of said base, a longitudinal central portion of said horizontal arm having a sidewardly extending hollow adapter which communicates with the interior of said horizontal arm, said adapter being adaptable for engagement with one end of a hose, the opposite end of said hose being attached to a hot air source, the interior of said horizontal arm having a deflector for diverting air from said adapter toward both opposite sides of said horizontal arm, and the upper end of each of said vertical arms having an opening therethrough and the upper side portion of each of said vertical arms being provided with additional openings therethrough, each upper end of said vertical arms being adaptable for placement of an inverted boot or glove thereupon so that said hot air can dry out the same.
Description:
This invention relates to hair dryers, and more particularly to an attachment for hair dryers in order to dry wet articles such as gloves and boots.
It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a drying device which will be attached to a conventional hair dryer, the device including a base element upon which the upper member is pivotable thereupon and serving as support means for gloves, boots and the like.
Another object of this invention is to provide a drying device which will be easily attached to the hose portion of the common hair dryer, the heat being directed into the elements supporting the elements to be dried.
A further object of this invention is to provide a drying device which will be of such construction so as to support the articles to be dried, while serving to dry the articles from the interior throughout the exterior.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a glove- and boot-drying device which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification ant the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention shown attached to a hair dryer which is shown in fragmentation and phantom lines;
FIG. 2 is a horizontal view of the invention shown in fragmentation and elevation with the hose portion of the dryer shown removed therefrom;
FIG. 3 is a fragmentary cross-sectional plan view of FIG. 1 showing the dryer mechanism removed therefrom; and
FIG. 4 is a fragmentary vertical view of one of the elements of the invention shown with a boot in place thereupon.
According to this invention, a drying device 10 is shown to include a pair of vertical pipes 11 which are integral with a horizontal pipe 12, the center of which includes an opening 13 providing adaptation to the hose 14 which directs warm air from the hot air source 15.
Device 10 includes a deflector portion 16 within the horizontal pipe portion 12 which serves to evenly direct the flow of incoming hot hair into the pipe element 11.
An elongated base portion 17 supported upon a swivel joint 18 serves to support device 10 when in use and folds out of the way for compactness when device 10 is stored.
A pair of projecting extensions 19 on either side of device 10 serve to render device 10 stationary when in use.
In use, the heat source 15 being a conventional hair dryer or the like, supplies hot air to the tube 14 which directs the hot air into the pipes 11 and 12, the hot air being egressed through the plurality of openings of the pipes 11 upon which the boots or gloves are supported, thus drying them from the interior throughout.
It shall be noted that by normally drying boots, gloves and the like, that are wet in the well-known manner serves to dry the exterior while leaving the interior still damp, device 10 eliminates this problem by serving to dry the articles aforementioned from the interior particularly wherein the resulting effect is also to dry the exterior simultaneously.
It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a drying device which will be attached to a conventional hair dryer, the device including a base element upon which the upper member is pivotable thereupon and serving as support means for gloves, boots and the like.
Another object of this invention is to provide a drying device which will be easily attached to the hose portion of the common hair dryer, the heat being directed into the elements supporting the elements to be dried.
A further object of this invention is to provide a drying device which will be of such construction so as to support the articles to be dried, while serving to dry the articles from the interior throughout the exterior.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a glove- and boot-drying device which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification ant the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention shown attached to a hair dryer which is shown in fragmentation and phantom lines;
FIG. 2 is a horizontal view of the invention shown in fragmentation and elevation with the hose portion of the dryer shown removed therefrom;
FIG. 3 is a fragmentary cross-sectional plan view of FIG. 1 showing the dryer mechanism removed therefrom; and
FIG. 4 is a fragmentary vertical view of one of the elements of the invention shown with a boot in place thereupon.
According to this invention, a drying device 10 is shown to include a pair of vertical pipes 11 which are integral with a horizontal pipe 12, the center of which includes an opening 13 providing adaptation to the hose 14 which directs warm air from the hot air source 15.
Device 10 includes a deflector portion 16 within the horizontal pipe portion 12 which serves to evenly direct the flow of incoming hot hair into the pipe element 11.
An elongated base portion 17 supported upon a swivel joint 18 serves to support device 10 when in use and folds out of the way for compactness when device 10 is stored.
A pair of projecting extensions 19 on either side of device 10 serve to render device 10 stationary when in use.
In use, the heat source 15 being a conventional hair dryer or the like, supplies hot air to the tube 14 which directs the hot air into the pipes 11 and 12, the hot air being egressed through the plurality of openings of the pipes 11 upon which the boots or gloves are supported, thus drying them from the interior throughout.
It shall be noted that by normally drying boots, gloves and the like, that are wet in the well-known manner serves to dry the exterior while leaving the interior still damp, device 10 eliminates this problem by serving to dry the articles aforementioned from the interior particularly wherein the resulting effect is also to dry the exterior simultaneously.
