SANITARY TOWEL

The sanitary towel is provided with fastening means at the end portions of the envelope enclosing the absorption body by which the conventional end loops may be omitted. The fastening means consists at each end portion of a narrow ring encircling said portion but leaving the terminal thereof uncovered. The portion between the ring and the absorption body is also uncovered. The ring may consists of artificial resin intimately united with the material of the envelope.

Claims:
What I claim is
1. A sanitary towel comprising an absorption body, an envelope of fibrous material surrounding said body and including end portions extending beyond the absorption body, and fastening means for facilitating the attachment of the towel, said fastening means encircling each end portion as a narrow ring but exposing both the part of the end portion nearest the absorption body and the terminal of the end portion.
2. A sanitary towel as claimed in claim 1 and further characterized by the fact that said narrow ring is made from artificial resin penetrating the material of the end portion so as to be firmly secured thereto.
3. A sanitary towel as claimed in claim 1 and further characterized by the fact that the outer dimension of the ring is of substantially the same size as the transverse dimension of the adjacent parts of the end portion.

2. A sanitary towel as claimed in claim 1 and further characterized by the fact that said narrow ring is made from artificial resin penetrating the material of the end portion so as to be firmly secured thereto.
3. A sanitary towel as claimed in claim 1 and further characterized by the fact that the outer dimension of the ring is of substantially the same size as the transverse dimension of the adjacent parts of the end portion.
Description:
Sanitary towels of conventional design are provided with an envelope which consists of a textile or other fibrous material and in certain cases of a net and extends at the ends of the towel beyond the absorption body so as to form holds for the towel. In order to facilitate attachment of the towel the projecting end portions have been provided with a knot. Complicated machines are used to tie such knots. There exists the desire of avoiding or simplifying such machines and still obtaining a reliable device, by means of which the towel can be attached in a simple and convenient manner. The object of this invention is to comply with this desire.
In its broadest aspect the invention is characterized in that the material which keeps said end portions together surrounds each end portion in the form of a narrow ring but exposes both the part of the end portion nearest the absorption body of the towel and the margin of the end portion.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the annexed drawings which show a plan view of a towel provided with a device according to the invention.

In the embodiment illustrated the towel has a netlike envelope 1, the ends of which extend beyond the absorption body 2 of the towel. The end portions of the envelope are surrounded and held together by a narrow ring 3 which suitably consists of artificial resin, preferably a thermoplastic material such as polyvinyl chloride. This ring has been clamped in a soft state around the end portions with the result that the ring after having set has been firmly connected with the textile material of the end portions of the envelope and consequently can serve as a reliable hold for attaching the towel e.g. to a clasp of a girdle.
An important advantage of a narrow ring made of thermoplastic material for the purpose indicated consists in the fact that the ring can be of small size so that it will not cause any discomfort in the use of the towel. The outer diameter of the ring may amount to about 0.1 inch. The shape of the ring may be spherical but a more stilliform shape could be used to facilitate the attachment of the towel. The textile material should be squeezed by the ring so that the diameter of the latter does not exceed the outer transverse dimensions of the end portion of the towel.
